Sucky Wife
Alas reading JustaDude's post about diffucult to understand people I am reminded of the evil wife of a caller I had awhile back. Husbands calls in and has a *SEVERE* studdering problem, he was pretty much unable to go more than 2 words without studdering dramictily. I can hear the wife in the background dictating to him what to say. She had a catch pharse of "tell her we have in-home service" I have to give the hubby lots of credit for patiently working with me to troubleshoot his PC issues, which was solved over the phone. He even apoligized several times for his studdering.
The kicker for me on this one was, even the wife was berading him about the studdering. My thought is, wtf did she not get on the phone. My guess she figures that if she puts him on the phone that I am going to cave in and just send someone out so I would not have to listen to him, but alas I have the patience of Job when it comes to dealing with people.
My other thought, why make your husband suffer like that when you are A. The Name on the Account B. Know he has this problem C. Are more than capable of doing it yourself

Good for you for being patient. My husband has a minor stuttering problem, and it causes him a great deal of embarrassment. I can't imagine how hard it must be for someone with a major problem.

That poor guy's stuttering problem would probably only minor too, if it wasn't for his bitch wife haranguing him!

Most assuredly. I've been known to stutter and get tongue-tied at times, but when someone is putting pressure on me, it just gets worse! She needs to seriously lay off.

It's another version of the power trip. She gets off on pushing him around; he lets her partly because of his discomfort with stuttering; it's a bad, nasty, co-dependent, abusive relationship.
People suck.

My brother is a stutterer. I remember one time when we were growing up (he was in college, I was still in HS) he was placing an order over the phone. Now he had gotten really good at controling his stutter over the years, but that day he was having particular trouble, Mostly due to the fact that he had to read a list of number and letter stock ID's off to a complete stranger over the phone. He got stuck and handed the phone to me, and then he was able to read the numbers outloud without stuttering and I was able to relay them to the person taking his order.
Point is: stress can make a stutterer worse. That wife is not just being sucky, she's being detrimental to her husband's ability to communicate.

What a bitch. I feel horrible for him, since he was probably really embarrassed.
Good for you for being so patient.

I tend to stutter as well. Its not as bad as it used to be. Basically my brain tends to work faster then my mouth can shovel it out. You really have to think and concentrate on what you are saying and work on slowing it down. But it does get worse in a stressful situation. Mine, however, tends to be worse in face to face contact not over the phone contact.
Oh yeah, his wife is a major biatch.

I stutter a bit- it was worse before I did drama lessons which helped me control it. But under stress it can be quite bad.
