I work for a registered charity. We have a mix of employees and volunteers - employees that are management, accountants, and so on, and volunteers that are, well, everything else. I started out, many years ago, as a volunteer, have worked myself up the chain of command, and am now an employee.
It being August, ALL of the staff but me has gone on holiday. I wasn't really looking forward to the prospect of being completely alone in the very large office - mainly because it would be damn quiet.
Our newest volunteer came in EVERY SINGLE DAY this week so I wouldn't have to answer all the phones myself and so I could take my lunch break. I am going to get him and his wife a $50 gift certificate for his favourite restaurant.
Volunteers ROCK!!
