Yesterday, when I started work, my front end manager informed me along with one of the regular checkers, that 2 of the checkers accepted checks for gift cards from a couple different customers. The problem ended up being that someone (probably the customer) erased the information that was on the check originally (like the check holder's name and address) and put their own information in. We already have to ask for ID if a customer is buying a gift card with a credit card. The front end manager decided that if a customer wants to buy some gift cards, they'll need to be done at the service desk from now on which I think is a good idea.
