Good grief . . .just when one thinks companies cannot be any more insensitive, another one has to prove us wrong.
I've only worked for 2 companies since I've been in the workforce that shut down. Both of them informed us IN PERSON at that.
Imagine such a concept.
First company (a department store chain that was based up north) gave us 6 month warning. They also helped us to find other employement.
Second company gave us almost a month notice and an option out. We could opt to stay with the company, as they still had locations in the area. However, we weren't guaranteed anything, so most of the folks at my store took the separation agreement and walked (myself included).
Company 2 left the area last year completely, leaving a good number of folks to find work elsewhere.
But at least we were given some notice and what options we had, even if there were no options.
Sad to see that common courtesy is going the way of Tara . . . with the wind.
