Guest: Didn't you just hear me say I was coming for the Davis Cup?

Me: yes but I dont know what that is

Guest: How can you not know what the Davis Cup? Everyone knows about the Davis Cup.

Me: well I dont so you need to tell me your dates

She tells me her dates and I check availabilty

Guest: Now don't I get a discount for the Davis cup?

Me: Well let me see what specials we are running

Guest: No I dont want a special, I want a discount for the Davis cup. You know what, let me talk to someone else because you obviously don't know much of anything.

She talked to my coworker who likewise had not heard of the Davis Cup and from what I understand, cussed her out too.

Clearly not a big enough deal to warrant a discount if the desk clerks don't know about it. Any event that brings in lots of business is going to be known by the employees...and is also probably going to translate to more expensive accommodations, not less.

Our prices went up 186% during the last city wide convention. We stopped raising prices at 299$ a night.

I could have killed my boss for that because we were only at 100% occupancy for two days that week. All the other hotels? All week long.
