Question know your own rant :P

So Saturday i was working with my fav co-worker, we were chatting and pricing earrings when a guy walks up to us.

Me = duh.
CD = crazy dude
CW= awesome coworker who is leaving me
*thoughts*

Me: can i help you with something?

CD: Do you know what the christian fish means?

Me: im sorry?

CD : Do you know what the symbol of the christian fish means?

Me + CW:

Me: *not in the mood to fight.. please.. just go away ><* no?

CW: maybe something to do with teach a man to fish? i don't know....

CD: People walk around all day long wearing symbols they don't understand!

Me: neither of us own a christian fish sir...

CD: well, how about the cross with the halo?

Me: the what? *please please please go away*

CD (tracing on the tabletop with his finger) cross with the halo

Me: you mean the Ankh?

CD: NO! cross with the halo!

Me and cw: um... we don't know what you are talking about..

CD: well, its a pagan symbol, and you sell it, you should know what you sell.

Me: well, i know the Ankh is Egyptian...

CD: Not the ankh! cross with the halo! You need to know these things! go to loosechange.org and you will learn all about the true meaning of symbols! i will not educate you further now! you need to go to loosechange.org! (he then repeats the site name a few more times while giving us a holier than thou attitude, and thankfully finally leaves)

CW: well... that was odd...

Me: yeah, i was afraid he was gonna start throwing pamphlets at us...

So later i went and looked in our cases for anything resembling his mysterious "cross with the halo" and the only thing even remotely close is the Ankhs we sell (which are in the case with our crosses, but are labeled as Ankhs... but that's a whole other can of worms). also i went to his site.... nothing to do with symbols at all.... its an "independent multimedia production company". So i don't know what his problem was... he said the name of the site at least 4 separate times.. i double checked with my coworker and that's what she heard to...

Kind of reminds me when people call us and expect us to be experts just because we have books:

Me: yes, we have books on calculus, no I can't tell you how to use the diferential.

The fish was a way for ancient Christians to identify themselves to others. Christians were persecuted back when so when one would walk up to someone they'd draw an arc in the sand with their feet. If the other person completed the arc to make a fish then they were both Christians.

And it has to do with the loaves and fish at the wedding I believe.

Just in case he comes back.

Anyway, what a nut job. What the hell was that all about. Who cares if you all know what it means, and it's not your job to ask people if they know what they're buying before they do it.

Somewhat OT, but if it's the same site I'm thinking about, Loosechange.org is a conspiracy website - mostly about 9/11.

You're combining two separate incidents. The wedding was changing water to wine, the loaves and fishes was feeding 5000 people with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread.

The fish was an easy symbol to adopt as it was used considerably by Jesus to his apostles who were fishermen. ("I'll make you fishers of men)

The Greek word for fish, ichthys, was also an acronym that translates in English as 'Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior'.

I had a feeling I was doing that as I was typing.

No, LCE (Loose Change Entertainment, the owners of the website) seems to be a film/video production company that specializes in comedy. They are not related to the conspiracy video.
