  • This was a vague complaint

My super told me she had to see me at 4pm Fri. That is never good. I also hate when someone higher up than you tells you to meet them at a certain time, and they show up 20 min. late. So I can't get any work done. But the following is the meat of this thread. Someone complained about me:

I am registering a complaint on a staff member. Mrs. DMFan was very unprofessional when I asked her for help. Her tone was very harsh and made me uncomfortable. Please see she is at least talked to about her relation with the public.

    Dr. Joe Joeson*

There are no other details. I have no idea who this person is.

    1) That was very vague. What did I do that was rude? My tone was harsh? Could he not got into detail, like "I asked her where I could find the sex books, and then I asked her if she read any and could suggest some?" No, that wasn't his question but if someone asked a question like that and was leering at me, I will be harsh. If someone says, "Where are the 300's?" and I point, "Right behind you sir," He might feel embarrassed. Then he would wonder why I didn't apologize for hiding the 300's. Then he would find my tone harsh since I didn't make him feel better. Or, most likely, I was helping someone and he just butts in with a question and I tell him "I'll be with you in a moment," and because I didn't help him right that minute he thought my tone of voice was harsh.
    2) I call BS on him being a doctor. His email address is joejoeson@yahoo.com. I've mentioned before about another person claiming to be a doctor, and his email address was joebloww2000@hotmail.com. And I doubt any doctor would have an email address like that, since a doctor would be affiliated with an institution, like a hospital or college. And some people have mentioned that doctors might not be asso. with an institution. But I call bs. I doubt the guy has a h.s. diploma, not even a doctorate. Then again, I don't recall this guy. He submitted his complaint on Dec. 8, but all I know is he could have had an "incident" with me a month ago and until recently decided to complain.
    3) He didnt' say if it was in person or by phone. Not that it makes much diff., though I am a bit harsh on our regular callers who just call us to have something to do.

Anyway, it would help to have details.

To be honest, he isn't sucky if he had a legitimate complaint, but the suck is there are no details. And maybe he is exaggerating my "harshness."
    *not his real name.

If I got a buck for each complaint of 'rudeness' against me, I could buy out the tax franchise.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

Gah I hate vague complaints like that.

As an aside, I'm the part time office person for my Mom's anesthesia group. She has roughly 15 employees of both MD and RNA variety and each and every one of them has an email address at yahoo, gmail, comcast, hotmail, one even has an email from a football team's website. The vast majority of Docs who are raking in the big bucks are contract workers with hospital priviledges.
My Step Dad is also a Doc who does have a Uni Hospital email, but he's a professor and a clinical trial researcher at said Uni Hospital.
Does that mean Joe Joeson was a doc? No, but I wouldn't doubt it as his vaguery sounds rather familiar from one of my Mom's ex-business partners who she's sueing at the moment. </hijack>

cut them some slack for using a personal email account for what is, in fact, personal business.

Everywhere I worked had rather firm rules about company internet/email, the upshot being that the work email is subject to third party inspection. I didn't like doing personal business- and even before the USA PATRIOT ACT i consider my reading habits personal!- on a work account.

I had a complain put in about me when I worked as a chef/waiter, the complaint was something along the lines of

"I am complaining about Rayven because I could see he was visibly holding in a laugh when I was explaining to him that I was unhappy about my Gammon Steak being salty"

The managers reply (this manager being the head of the entire restraunt at the hotel I worked, above the head chef etc.)

"To be honest very few kitchen staff could have composed themselves as well and refrained from laughing"

I suppose my hesitance in thinking the guy was an actual doctor was from the previous experience with a guy (which I gave some details about) who claimed to be a doctor and was just crazy. Yes, lots of professors are really rough individuals, and some doctors are a bit rough, but this guys demenor was just fucking off the wall.

Anyway, I checked the Pictoral Roster (covers physicians who practice in the area) and he's not in the book. I can't find him in Referance USA. A simple google search yields nothing.

Let's just say the SC is a doctor of some sort ... Wouldn't you think that he'd have some sort of professionalism and at least give more detail than simply saying "DMF was very unprofessional ... that is all ..."

I mean ... don't doctors get complaints? If a doctor got this same complaint ... wouldn't they want more detail? Just so they would know where the problem lies and attempt to fix it?
This area is left blank for a reason.

Ok, that's a winner. But my limited experience working at a hospital left me with a distaste for surgeons, and my friend who works in surgical billing confirms this, esp. heart surgeons. Someone coming in and being an ass would make me think they were such.

Er, Devil's Advocate here, but it could have been a non-medical Doctor. I have a friend who has a doctorate in language, after all. Doesn't get hung up on his 'Doctor' title though, hence why he's a friend.

It's not that hard to figure out... if you say one of the following phrases (or any derivation/combination thereof) to an SC:

                        "Unfortunately, that isn't possible"
"That item is not discounted/on sale"
"I cannot do that for you"
"That item is out of stock/out of print/no longer in production or available"
                        "We're closed"
                        or the all-encompassing "No"...

...it constitutes as you being "rude" to them.
