Default pure douchebag

Guest: yea Dave, I sent over an amended contract and wanted to be sure you recieved it and I also need you to sign a copy of it and fax it back to me

Me: yes sir, we did receive it but we cant accept it

Guest: well I am afraid you have to accept it, my flight comes in at noon and a 4 PM checkout is not convenient for me and I also dont agree to be out by 10 because we have a later flight that day

Me: you cant change the contract, sir

Guest: yes but you're going to sign a copy and fax it back to me

Me: no I'm not

Guest: that is insubornation

Me: I am not your subordinate

Guest: newsflash, I pay your salary.

Me: I know

Guest: then show your gratitude

Me: I cant and wont sign an agreement you made up. If you dont want to abide by our policies, I will gladly refund your deposit

Guest: you know what, I am really gonna lose it with you, put your supervisor on this phone

Why do all your customers seem to want to haggle after making the purchase? They have it all backward.

"Pure Douchebag" sounds like the name of a CD series in the style of "Pure Moods". I have some idea of what would go on it.

Let me get this straight... the guy signed a contract, then tried to change it AFTER?

Although, I probably would have a jerk right back at him...

"Our lawyer is going to have to take a look at this changed contract... We'll call you back tomorrow to arrange a court date. Maybe."

Ok a little contract 101:

When a company hands you a contract, you can make changes before you sign but the onus is then on the company to ACCEPT your changes before the contract is binding (there have been cases where customers have crossed out mandatory binding arbitration clauses and the company still accepted the contract) but they have NO obligation to at all and are well within their rights to require you to keep to the original contract.

But regardless the guy was a major douche for pulling the "I pay your salary" BS and expecting Dave's company to just bow to his every desire. I noticed traveling SCs are very bad for being entitled.

If somebody tells me they pay me my salary, I'll ask them where's my raise AND my bonus. What a dumbass, you can't change a contract AFTER signing it!

Oh, man, wouldn't you have loved to have said that to him? I can only imagine what his reaction would have been!

I work for an insurance company that writes through independent agents. That jerk reminds me of that agent one of my co-workers had the displeasure of having to deal with a few years ago. I was helping her with huge amounts of work that he was sending in on a monthly basis for about a year. The agent had the nerve to try setting a quota. I told her I would have said, um, okay, and if I worked for you, that might mean something.
