Smile I'm Glad He Didn't Last Long

Background: I'm new on here and this is my first post.
Real Background: I work in a Subway in a truck stop (they own us). I'm quite happy working there, but not all people are. You have to have the right attitude, because working with truck drivers tends to warp you...significantly lol. (no, I'm not hating on truck drivers. they are really awesome!!)

John (not his real name) was hired as maintenence at the truck stop. Apparently, after his first day, he found out he was allergic to the chemicals they use to clean the showers. So, he was transferred to Subway. He was a pretty decent worker and actually caught on pretty quickly. I thought he would be great to work with...

One fateful day, there were four people scheduled to work, J, K, John and I. As a 24 hour Subway, our shifts are...stacked? I'm not sure what to call them, but someone comes in to relieve a worker and another comes in two (or so) hours later and so on, but usually two or three people are working except at night. The busier hours have more workers and trainees are always put on with at least two seasoned workers. (whoops more background info lol).

Anyways, I show up 15 minutes early (great habit of mine, so I'm never late) and J is ALONE. Not a good sign even at ten or so in the morn. I checked the schedule and both K and John were supposed to be there... and there was a rush at TEN in the morning on a Monday

Once I clocked in and got all the people gone, I had a chance to talk to J. Apparently, K had some car trouble and wasn't coming in (he showed up five hours late and left thirty minutes early, then didn't show up the next day a.k.a. he quit). John on the other hand had a whole yarn spun. He called J and told her that he thought he had set his alarm for 7 am, but accidently set it for 3:30 pm and didn't realize it until he woke up late. Then, he got into a fight with his parents and lost his car privaleges. J called AwesomeManager and AwesomeManager told J to tell him the next time he calls in not to come back...I thought it was the end of the story...unfortunetly, I wouldn't be telling it if it was.

This is the sighting part of the story and is entirely second hand from my AwesomeManager (she's awesome and a bit odd sometimes. she's also Carribbean...this is important) and Q (who is awesome and is slow to anger and a really, really nice person...and also Carribbean...this is important).

John calls into Subway (something about his paycheck, I didn't catch that part of the story) and starts yelling at Q saying "YOU F****** N******". He called a few times and each time Q would answer the phone he would say the above phrase and then hang up. Then, a lady calls Subway and asks for the travel center's phone number. John proceeds to call the travel center and starts the conversation with "THE F****** MANAGERS!!!" What's funny is that he picked the wrong person to call about that. Our Store Director (who has power WAY above managers) was the one to pick up the phone and he calmly and coolly tells him that the cops are tracing the call and hangs up. John calls back all sweet and nice and tries to play it off as some ten year old prank calling.

*rewinds a few hours to the begining of my shift* *phone rings*
Me:"Thank you for calling Subway, Western Phoenix speaking."
John: "N...*click*"
Nope, he didn't say that to me, because I'm a pasty white girl that glows in sunlight

After I took the call, Q explained part of the story to me, then AwesomeManager explained the last part of the story, as relayed by the Store Director, at the end of my shift. Ah, what a great day =)

i loved serving truck drivers, they are some of the nicest people and are very understanding......and it is always cool to see ones you know come in here and there....there was this one guy who's catchphrase was "walk don't run" and when he would always come in and i would say "but i like to run". it was always fun to just talk about anything, expecially when i spent my entire break eating and talking about politics with this one trucker.....i didn't like serving these families that came in with several kids, i pefered the nice truck drivers (is in work leave cause of transportation issues at a mc donalds that is in a gas station)

I have several things to say: 1: Wow...what was he THINKING?! 2: Truckers are cool except my parking lot isn't big enough for them so they end up parking so they block all the spaces and I have to wait for one to move before I can even get to park to go to work. 3: Your managers are cool. Mine looks like a bouncer and could probably pummel anyone into next week (I thought he was going to once.)
