I'm glad Colorado doesn't have hurricanes...
...because these idiots would either drown in their basements or starve to death on their roofs with no source of food because guess what their first instinct is in an emergency? That's right...go to bloody Subway to "Stock up". No, these idiots weren't getting just one sandwich...they were ordering like 5 for their friends or "another for tomorrow". Oh you think you're soooo clever...and yet anyone else would probably try a supermarket; or better yet, you would have shopped ahead of time so you wouldn't have to deal with the crowds of other people who didn't think ahead.
So right after CSU announced campus would be closed at 2, people literally stampeded into the student centre to bum rush the Subway. Uh, hello? CAMPUS CLOSES IN LESS THAN AN HOUR!!! We need to get to our homes too! Don't complain about how slow the line moves when about a zillion people swarmed Subway, at lest half of which are holding up the line ordering multiple sandwiches and piling a zillion veggies on there.
Also, don't complain to us over the phone because your food is cold. You ordered the sandwich toasted and then walked across campus in a snowstorm before eating it, now DEAL with it! No, we will NOT do deliveries, becuase
a) We are closed
b) THIS. IS. SUBWAY!!! We don't do deliveries in this one!
c) And no, the pizza place wont' do deliveries either. They've been shouting "We're closed! We can't do deliveries today!" for the past hour. No, I am not going to check and ask for you...they would like to close up shop in peace.
And to the guy who ransacked the chip rack...enjoy being arrested for shoplifting! The campus police was in here shooing people too stupid to go to an appropriate shelter, and we saw you take a zillion bags of chips off the rack. :P Don't steal stuff from Subway when there are no customers blocking our view.

You should see what happens down here when there is a hurricane coming. Even when the wind was really picking up and it started raining, people were still trying to get into the store and buy stuff. And when we said we were closed they flipped out. Sorry but I'm gonna go home and get to shelter while I still can since the storm is practically on top of us.Maybe you should have come earlier in the week like everyone else.

i don't know about other people, but since i know i live in a hurricane zone...i have a couple cases of water and nonperishable food, along with first aid stuff, batteries, ect. it just makes more sense to me to be prepared just in case. that way, i don't have to out and battle the masses.

DU closed at 2 yesterday as well and I was in a class that usually lets out at 3. When I made the announcement (am I the ONLY person who signed up for the campus security txt notifications?!), one kid said "So if campus is closing, will the coffee shop still be open?" No. "But it's food! It's an essential service!" Hardly. "What am I supposed to do?" Drink the swill offered in the cafeteria or buy a coffeemaker the future.
Bah. I'm enjoying the snow days.

Well the whole text alert thing in theory woudln't work because Cell phones are supposed to be OFF during class, but they knew nobody actually follows that rule and everyone's texting away.

I've started keeping 15-20 gallons of beer in my basement. You know... just in case.

So we can all head to your place during the next emergency - right?

There's a bottle of vodka and a bottle of gin in my hurricane kit. Hey, you need something to do when the power is out!
