Default Banks!

Anyone recommend a good bank?

Im ready to kick my bank in the crotch, which is probably a bad idea b/c they also hold my mortgage,, but i cant deal with their shit anymore. Im in Pennsylvania, so a nationwide or even a local-ish branch would be good. One that doesnt charge a fee for simply breathing would be great!

My old bank was purchased by PNC and has been a downhill fall since then.

I use Suntrust and have had no issues. Free checking (with direct deposit, I think)

Before I used Suntrust I used Wachovia for years (back when it was First Union). I liked them too, only left because I got married and my wife didn't want to leave Suntrust.

Have you checked out local credit unions? I've found the ones around here offer better interest rates than the national ones and the people have been much nicer to work with. Mine's even big enough to have online bill pay (some of the tiny ones don't).

I use Bank of America and have never had a problem with it, although I know many people who have.

I also use Bank of America, have had very few problems with them (the ones I had were minor) and have been with them since I was 14.

However, I also second going to a local credit union and checking them out. They tend to be better for some people. Most of my friends use a credit union, I know one other that, for sure, uses Wells Fargo and one that uses BOA. (BOA guy used to use Wells Fargo but they messed something up hardcore and refused to fix it so he left)

I would recommend Northwest Savings Bank. They were listed in Forbes magazines as one of America's 100 top companies. I am in PA too. I don't know if you have any branches there.
