  • They must be very trusting

I went to an auction for the first time today, I really enjoyed it, and yesterday I went to the viewing of the lots for sale.Only the jewellery was locked away, there were all kinds of little knickknacks, some quite valuable (china animals) just on tables which we could pick up and look up.

I thought it was very trusting as I could see no staff members around, no CCTV and there was the risk of someone coming in to steal it (or in my case dropping it and scarpering as I'm clumsy - I didn't drop it but it could have happened).
Customer "why did you answer the phone if you can't help me?"

Are you sure there was no CCTV?

Different auction places have different levels of security.

Some places are just open warehouses of stuff that you can fondle to your heart's content prior to the auction. Other places keep things behind wire fences and don't even let you get close enough to do things like count boxes (customs auctions are horrible for this crap).
