I'm just a f***ing sewing machine
I'm just a freaking machine that spits out sewing when you put money in. I don't need a word of thanks or a single compliment, you just pay me to crank out your awesome ideas for you, that's all. It doesn't matter that this latest project is the best thing I've made, that I put all kinds of new, wonderful ideas into it, that it's both better looking and more sturdy than anything like it I've done before. None of that matters one bit. It doesn't matter that it looks exactly like your farking reference art, or that I finished it months ahead of your deadline. Who cares that I responded to your every question within a day, sometimes within minutes, and provided progress pictures every time you asked for them. None of that matters squat.
No, the only thing you need to say when I send you an e-mail with photos of your beautiful finished project is "What about my next project, is that done yet?"
Fuck you.
That was LITERALLY his entire e-mail, one brief line asking if the next thing he'd commissioned was also finished.
(I know this is pretty minor compared to what some people put up with, but still... Sure, okay, you paid the money, I made the project, I guess you don't owe me anything, but is SOME kind of "I look forward to getting it" or "it looks nice" or some TINY acknowledgement that I've spent the last three months working for you too much to ask?)

"I'm sorry, your next project has been postponed in favor of the people who have developed a sense of empathy and understand how to express gratitude for work completed quickly and accurately. If your abilities in this area should happen to change, you may of course petition for a review of the priorities list. Have a nice day."

Well when you do a lot of sewing, you have to deal with some pricks now and then. And this SEAMS to be one of those times. :-)

As an artist who takes commissions, I feel your pain. Nothing makes me happier than reading a joyful 'thank you' from my client.
Getting a happy note back, or seeing the happiness in their eyes when they pick up their art in person really makes my day.
I'm so sorry the person you are working for is socially inept.

Im sorry! Its nice to be appreciated even if youre just doing your job/what you love.
I had a piece of art commisioned for my hubbys bday and expressly thanked the artist and even wrote a follow up email to let her know how much hubby loved it, and thanked her once again.
Some peoples aint got no sense.

Too bad, when you hit a snag your whole joke unravels.
As for the ungrateful bastard, don't rush the next project. Make sure that even if you have it done early you give it to him exactly on the day you projected it would be finished.
I sew, and I've both done SCA garb for others and have had others do some for me, and that kind of attitude NEVER got anything done quickly.
