Every new beginning...
...comes from some other beginning's end. -Semisonic, "Closing Time"
It's official. My wife and I are moving to a new city and a new state. Only 4 hours from where we are now, but enough to make a difference.
With all the trouble with my FiL, the lack of acting and career jobs here and the general ennui of living in KS, we decided to make a fresh start. So we're leaving the town we've lived in for the past ten years. It won't be easy, however.
Another couple is moving with us: Kane and Charlene (not their real names). Kane is also unemployed and we hatched a plan. Kane and I will move first and get an apartment and look for jobs. Charlene will move in with my wife as they continue to work at their current jobs....until March when the lease is up.
Let me reiterate that: for 7 months, my wife and I will be in two different towns in two different states.
I knew something like this was going to happen, but originally, we thought I was going in January. Well, with Kane and Charlene in the mix, the time table got bumped up. Bottom line, I need a job as soon as possible. That doesn't mean I won't miss my wife terribly. We'll have Skype and our phones, but it won't be the same. We just have to make sure there's gas in our cars to see each other.
So....anyone here on CS.com live in Springfield, MO?

It is true that every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end. That band nailed the truth when they wrote and sang that. And I have seen it happen so many times, not only in my life, but in others' as well.
I had a crappy job that I had to get out of it, as I worked for the biggest Shit Weasel ever. Perhaps I should thank him, because I hated working for him so much that I went balls to the wall to find a new job, and ended up at The Bar, where I have been, and been very happy, for the last 3.5 years.
The one time I got fired from a job (other than the 3 paper routes I got fired from as a kid, as I was the Worst Paperboy Ever), it resulted in my getting hired by a chain restaurant. And from working at the chain restaurant, I ended up able to travel the country, working at any of their locations along my way. Which brought me to Key West. Had I not gotten fired from the original job, it is very unlikely I would have ever ended up in Key West.
I was a wreck when That Vile Woman dumped me. But after a while, after I started to really see what she was like, what she was about, my eyes opened, and I realized what she was and what I had been spared, and I was able to have an even brighter outlook on life than I had had prior to her. The Steve Miller Band was right. Sometimes "you have to go through hell before you get to heaven."
Nurse Betty lost her job at the hospital last year, perhaps unfairly. It took her a bit to get back on her feet, but now she is working at a job she likes, in the medical field, and I think she's making even more than she was at the hospital.
I could go on and on. And I often do. But look at your own lives. All of you. How often has something bad happened, and then, in some way due to that, something better happened that made you forget about the bad thing? It's good to keep in mind that whenever one door closes, another truly does open.
For you, Nurian, this sounds like a new beginning for the four of you. And luckily enough, the distance between the two couples IS only four hours, certainly a doable LDR. So good luck to you all, and enjoy what this new opportunity brings you.

Aw, I'll miss having another Lawrencian on the boards! I've driven through Springfield many times, and I know someone who's lived there. It's a nice enough town, very close to Branson. You have to eat at Lambert's.

Mom and Dad lived that way for over 5 years. They saw each other on weekends.
It's not for everybody, that's for sure (My relationship with EQ certainly suffered and she's just my sister. I lived with Dad and her with Mom for those years).

We're "lucky" that we have no children right now. Just our cats. I couldn't even think about doing this with kids.
