THOR
You really should see it. ._____.
It's scenery porn, really-- and yet... it contrasts with the town in NM they're at on Earth-- it's pretty damn awesome.
So. Hot.
(and I'm not just talking about Hemsworth or Portman)
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I mean, look at this! It's like the 80's meets Scandinavian Mythos meets AWESOME.
LOOK.

*swoon*
This isn't even the most epic shot. It's actually very, very simple. One note, maybe.
And what they did with Bifrost?
And Jotunheim?
You really should see it.

The film was directed by Kenneth Branagh who is known more for his film adaptations of Shakespeare, most particularly the 4 hour unabridged Hamlet, which is pretty much the most awesome thing *ever*. You can see in it (and in this photo) that he does grandiose really, really well.

Warning: spoiler.
I saw it yesterday.
They did a great job paying homage to Jack Kirby's vision of Asgard.
The visuals are nothing short of stunning.
Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are nothing short of HOT.
I look at Hemsworth's abs and think of one word: LAUNDRY! Whooo baby.
And Hiddleston has the tall, dark, broody handsome thing down cold. He is fabulous as Loki.
My only complaint is they really didn't spend enough time building up Portman's character . . . the focus is clearly on the Asgardians. And yet I didn't mind.
I didn't even mind that Heimdall is a black guy . . . he did a GREAT job playing the role.

I haven't seen it yet and I'm on the fence. I may go see it in a week or so (I heard the 2-d version is much better than the 3D version?).
Also, am I the only one who isn't impressed by the picture above? Yes, the scene is very elaborate but it looks very 2-dimensional to me (and not because it's a picture but it clearly looks like that set isn't as deep as it should be. (Maybe it's just not the best picture?).

Go see it in 2D. It was not shot in 3D, and quite frankly, I did not think the 3d effects were worth the extra price. There were very few "jump off the screen" effects that make a 3 d movie worth while.
That shot isn't among the best. The scenes with Bifrost are nothing short of stellar.
I think you'll enjoy it
