Not "roadkill" cos there was no driving suck. Just an "I can't believe you drive that in public" kind of suck.


I wish I'd gotten a photo of it but... I was driving and it was on a 7 lane road in the retail/mall part of town with crazy drivers.

Car goes by me ... and .. o boy. it's not just Green, it's puke-primer-green. Only I think they didn't really use primer but actual car paint. As in someone actually paid money to get a car painted this color.

And it's not even a good car - it's an old boxy-style sedan. not even something that looks classic.

and i know it was on purpose cos... o look, the insides of your tires were painted the same ugly shade of green.

There's a car down my road that's a brilliant shade of lime green. And one that lives around here that's pretending to be a tangerine.

Top Gear had a great short where poor Hammond had to test drive a convertible Nissan Micra that was bright pink, around his home village. ^^ I've seen one brighter, it was more a flourescent cerise. It hurt my eyes...

We have several Jeeps around here that are that color. I figured they must've been forest service vehicles or something that were auctioned off. One guy even appears to own two of them.

It could have been worse. GM once tried to sell their Geo/Chevy Trackers...in the interesting color combo of baby blue body, and pink wheels. Why GM thought it was a good idea, I'll never know. As for those Trackers, that particular color combo really wasn't a strong seller--they'd sit on the dealer's forecourts for months before someone desperate for a ride would buy them...or the dealer would swap out the pink rims for silver ones.

If you really want to see some strange colors, look at some of the 1970s shades BL offered on MGs. Just about every shade of the rainbow. Many of those 'odd' colors are rarely seen now. Too bad, since a Mirage (lavender) B tends to draw attention at shows.

What is it about green cars?

My grandfather's car when I was a kid was a 1968 Dodge Dart. That thing was bulletproof, but it had no A/C, no radio, (well unless you count the little Panasonic transistor that was rubberbanded to the sun visor) not very pleasant to drive in the summer months. Also, it was green. Still, not as ugly as the 1999 FIAT Multipla. I heard someone describe that as a two-bagger: one for the car, and one for his head in case the one on the car blows off. Google for the image at your peril, I'm not posting any link to it...

My wife and I left the airport and headed to the underground garage where the rentals were. As soon as we left the stairwell, a nuke-meltdown green assailed our eyes. When we got to the row number our car was to be in, we knew which one was going to be ours. Since car color doesn't affect drive-ability (except for having to squint a lot) we laughed it off, got in, and drove to the exit gate.
First words out of the booth attendant's mouth? "Ohhh! What a PRETTY color car!

Whe spent a couple of weeks in spain once, and rented a car one weekend to do some sightseeing. I've no idea the make or model, but it was small, and chunky, and done not in just one colour, but at least three, all primary colours. It really looked like something a kindergartner would draw. We referred to it as the crayola car.

When someone deliberately paints a car in a weird colour, it's usually because:

1) They need the help finding it in a large car-park;
2) They're hoping it will put people off nicking it;
3) They're colour-blind & the paint was on sale;
4) They have very strange taste.

I can tell you from experience that no. 2 will never happen. We once got back to the car from shopping when I was a kid to discover that some lout was sat in the front seat of mum's Cortina (a.k.a. The Deathtrap) trying to hotwire it. This was a surprise because:

a) It was a Cortina;
b) The only thing holding it together was the rust;
c) Only 2 of the 4 doors opened;
d) The back seat wasn't actually attached to anything else;
e) It had the classic wire coat-hanger aerial (carefully bent into a star);
f) Various bits inside were repaired with duct-tape, so it obviously wasn't in very good health.

People really will steal anything.

We have a few cars around here that are painted with that colour change/lenticular type stuff. So they go from ucky green all the way to ucky purple depending on how the light is hitting each part of the car.
