  • Yet another story-related medical question

I, too, am writing a story. The main character gets shot at, and the bullet grazes his temple. I know scalp wounds bleed like crazy, and he feels woozy from blood loss and of course the pain from the wound. Are there any other symptoms, and what kind of treatment would he get from the hospital? After-effects?

Thank you in advance for your help.

He could have a concussion and a skull fracture. An x ray would likely be taken, possibly a CT of the head.

Staples to close the wound, observation for 24 hours (possibly at home, just make sure patient wakes up every 2 hours).

Nausea and vomiting is a sign of worsening symptoms.

Headache. A bitch of a headache.

Hemorrhage if the bullet nicks the temporal artery.

What about temporary deaf? Temporary tinnitus? Memory/black/blank at that specific time? Now allergic to lead? :P

All but the lead allergy are possible.

        Everyone is allergic to lead
