As an advanced cyclist I'm normally the first to defend cyclists.

That said shooting out of a side street into the path of my car while I'm driving at 30mph is not going to end well if I'm not paying attention. Luckily I was so the rights of weigh didn't apply...

you're both lucky. i've seen it go the other way where the cyclist was hit. and the driver had the right of way because the kid ran the stop sign. (kid fled before the cops showed up, tho the driver stayed)
