Hello everyone.
It has been a while since I last posted.
Kinda some background: I currently work Customer Service in an office building that also has its own little bistro like restaurant. This restaurant has items on their menu, with the cheapest item being 1.00 and the most expensive being about 6.00 or so. They also have an ATM that dispenses 20.00 as the lowest denomination. (This is important). /end backstory.
So yesterday, I wanted to get 20.00 from the ATM for other uses. However, I felt like some potato salad and theirs is tasty and I had the 2.00 in my wallet for that, so I wasn't planning on asking them to break the 20.00. There were four kitchen staffers sitting at a table near the ATM. I had just pulled my debit card out of my wallet (hadn't even looked at the ATM screen yet) when one of the staffers turns around and says in a snotty tone "Read the sign! Its not working! Tell me what it says!!!" Surprised, I read out loud what I saw on the screen "Out of service. Please contact technician."
Staffer: "You need to READ it first!"
Me: 'Silently pays for salad with change in wallet."
Ok. I understand that maybe they had some not so nice people that got angry that the machine was out of service, but I do not think I deserved that tone. Or am I just being sensitive? What do you guys think?
Also, as I mentioned previously, their stuff is quite cheap, but the ATM dispenses 20.00 as the lowest denomination. There are times that I do not carry cash and the 20.00 I get from the machine is all I have. Everytime I pay with a 20.00, I get sighed at, catbutt face and/or rolling eyes. I get that maybe there is not enough cash in the till, but I am sure they're aware the lowest amount the machine dispenses. Perhaps they should remove the machine altogether or post a sign saying they cannot accept bills over 10.00?? Again, what do you think? Am I being too sensitive?
