Okay, first addressing the fan mock-ups of the graphics:

Some of us actually *like* being able to see what we're doing, so turning down the gamma and doing a pallette swap to darker colours != better.

Second, the characters in D1 and D2 weren't exactly paragons of anatomically correct study. Anyone remember the warrior? How about the Barbarian (who actually looks similar to the D2 version as the D3 example)? The frikkin' Necromancer?

As for the petition, these are obviously people who have very little experience in programming, as it's not a simple thing to change the graphics at the point they're at. They could switch the character models with effort, but changing the lighting system and textures? They'd have to push the release back further than it already is.

Andariel from Act 1, and Duriel from Act 2? I know Andariel was a Lesser Evil, but I didn't think Duriel was. Either way, that would be an awesome scenario, GK. It means you'd probably not have to go to hell this time around, but work your way up to a corrupted Heaven instead. Then *maybe* hell after, but we've both been there and done that. Twice.

Duriel was a Lesser Evil - the Prince of Pain iirc.

Hate the thing with all my soul. He just reamed my new Spearazon twice in a row because my effing merc wouldn't get out of the way.

I'm going to go on the off crazy side and bet the new story is about Deckard Cain turning out to be the debil and we get to crush him. =D

As far as I remember? Nothing. There's different types of archangels, so there's that. Sounds a good theory to me. It'd be lame if Tyreal was evil. And I'll go over to Blizzard North and beat them all if it turns out he was a turncoat the whole time, and manipulated you into destroying the worldstone.

Apparently there's still 2 Evils left. ( 3 Prime, 4 Lesser. You've killed 3 prime and 2 lesser so far. ). So still something left to mine. The Lord of Sin and Lord of Lies are still farting around somewhere ( Asmodaz? and Belial ). You stuck a fork in two lesser Evils, ( Durandal, that slug thing in D2 Act 2 I think and some other buttwart whose name I forget ).

From what I gather from the story the Worldstone was destroyed, everyone waited for the demonic armies, it didn't happen. Deckard Cain has hung out for 20 years trying to figure out why. Then OMFG METEOR.

One theory is that the Worldstone ( Which prevented Heaven AND Hell from interfering with the mortal world and with each other. It was sort of like the cork between all 3 ) was destroyed, the flood gates opened as he Lesser Evils had been planning, but they invaded Heaven instead and Heaven's greatest warrior, Tyrael, wasn't in Heaven to help. He was dicking around the mortal world after the Worldstone shattered, waiting for a demonic invasion that never came and probably becoming a corrupted emo douche angel.

Hence in the story you get a meteor full of horrible creatures from the Heavens rather then them crawling up from a crack in the Earth.

Could be interesting if it goes something like that.

One of the ways must have been the Prime Evils being resurrected.

And that would be incurably lame, as they were supposedly utterly annihilated after the destruction of the soulstones. There shouldn't have been anything left to ressurect. The only non-lame way I can see this playing out is if some new people *become* the prime evils, and take the names of the original ones.

Probably be fun, though I doubt it'll be addictive as D2. And I agree with the story assessment. Seriously, what kind of bootstrapping are they going to have to do to make it so Diablo isn't dead? Killed, and the soulstone smashed. That's supposed to have been the *final* blow.

I knew there would be third eventually. When the worldstone was destroyed Tyrael said something about the world would be changing in unknown ways, or something like that. One of the ways must have been the Prime Evils being resurrected.

Game looks pretty but the cinematic trailer was pretty meh for a Blizzard production. The voice over work in it sounds kinda off too. The power of Blizzard's voice work has always been in making the delivery of their cheesy script sound impressive. But they failed this time. No offense to the voice actress. -.-

Ahh, yeah.. couldn't see the trailer without some interesting sideroutes (stupid work computers and their Websense). yeah... That's the big D alright...

Well... let's hope it's better than something like "The shards of the soulstone, destroyed at the Soulforge in Act IV, were found by Azreal, Tyrael's half brother we "killed" last game. After a little work, he took the soul into himself, releasing another Diablo into the world!"
