I love makeup and thank gosh every day for it.

And no, I don't think I'm OMG UGGGLLLY because I wear it, which seems to be the biggest assumption of girls who wear it every day like I do, but because I like to enchance my features and look more awake. I want my eyes to look bigger and because I've been suffering adult acne for a few years now, it's relieving to know my skin looks a little nicer.

iradney - you would also find him less hot if he didn't have the sense of humour and intelligence, because they will actually affect your perceptions of what you see.

And, not as much with guys, but how good someone looks is really a function of how much effort they put into it. It's actually not really a function of how they were born. Some things are, but I know that I could probably be pretty good looking, even without losing weight, if I was willing to put the effort into it. However, I hate the feel of makeup, I refuse on principle to attack my hair the way that would be required to get it to behave, and a lot of the rest of it makes me feel ugly, and only gets done if I can't get away with it.

TTO is hawt. Very hawt. However, I find him to be incredibly attractive because of his sense of humour and intelligence. If he didn't have those attributes, I would not be marrying him!

But nope. Hell if you even want a first date, you need to be hot. Few people will give a person time to impress them with their personality if they aren't attractied to them to begin with. It's a sad sick fact of life.

I don't really go for good looks... yeah an attractive person may be ok to give the eyes a treat every so often, in in my experience, the ones I've met are hampered personality wise. Give me personality any day

Its true though, I don't wear make-up, I try to dress to suit my rather cuddly figure, i think I'm probably average looking, certainly not OMG HAWT & have a slightly wonky eye that goes off wandering if I get a bit tired.. I don't even have friends locally, let alone the hint of a date. And I'm lucky in my looks.. there are some people locally with bad disfigurements who shuffle through town with their heads down because they know what people are thinking.. Hell, i've even heard someone say "eew why does he come out looking like that" in earshot of a man with a large port wine stain over his face

This town I live in seems to be a magnet for shallow people though. I apparently live in one of the wealthier areas of the country, the only way I've noticed that is by the amount of people who walk around with their noses in the air so they don't see the riff raff

So alot of nice, funny or awesome people with disfigurments, mismatched eyes, or any other various looks on their face that disgust people are just considered ugly, and not worthy of time.


If people's looks were based on personality, the world would be a far better place and much more people would be happier, as people like others for who they are.

I had a 'makeover' for my birthday one year (the real present was the haircut and color, which I loved, but the girl did my makeup too) and all that makeup on my face felt so weird (not to mention the amount of goop in my hair)...and the pictures don't even look like me. We took pics when I got home before I washed it all off; the pics taken the next day at my birthday dinner were so much better because I was wearing my normal makeup (face powder and a little eyeliner and lip gloss) and my hair wasn't all stiff.
