  • I finally did it and it felt good!

Ha! Ha! Nothing like an ambigous title to get people to open the thread!

    I crack myself up...anyway, I digress.

I could've put this in "cursing out coworkers" but I decided it wasn't quite work related....in some ways yes...but not entirely.

My best friend - we's like peas and carrots - the mother of his children works with me. When she moved here, I suggested she get a job here because its a great company. At the time, I was in a different department and not working directly with her. That changed about a year ago.

Since then, I've had to endure the occasional conversation she has loudly had with other co-workers berating my friend. Plus, often, she tells stories to co-workers which are huge contradictions to what she has told him. This has placed me in an awkward situation. I'm not one to be in the middle of things between others....telling him these stories is unheathy for the both of us. However, it's unhealthy for me to carry around this stuff alone.

Today, I had enough. She started complaining about a recent issue she had with him - very loudly - enough to carry a couple rows to where I was working. Maybe I'm in the wrong mood today - or the right mood depending on how you look at it...but I shot her an email that read something along the lines of ...

"If you are complaining about *name* I'd really wish you wouldn't do it so loudly where I can hear it. Not that I run and tell him everything...but it makes me uncomfortable that you talk about my friend so loudly." I also mentioned that I had been meaning to tell her for awhile now, but had not done so.

She didn't reply, I didn't expect her too...but I felt better for making my workplace a little more bearable where I don't feel like I'm getting caught in the middle of something.
