  • I certainly am graceful!

It has rained over 10 inches in Central Florida over the past 3 or 4 days. I tried to get the dog to pee tonight, but he was being difficult because he doesn't like to get rained on. Such a princess.....

Anyhow, I had an umbrella to hopefully keep him AND myself dry, and I was trying to expedite his choice of bushes. I pointed to one then stepped on the grass to give him full access, and wound up knee deep in grass and dirt. I tripped and almost face planted, the umbrella went flying, Booker (the dog) sought refuge on the front porch with Mom, and Mom was dying laughing. I then realized that my leg burned. Crap...I was just knee deep in a fire ant pile*. I proceed to run through the *carpeted* house (I'm wet and muddy) to the pool and wade in...knee deep...to get the fire ants off. (The chlorine kills them and helps soothe the bite.) I go back to the front door, and the dog still hasn't peed, but he is significantly wet. Mom was still dying laughing, wondering what on earth happened. She said she just saw me go down and the umbrella go flying. We'll have to 'inspect' the hole tomorrow in daylight.

The dog still hasn't peed by the way. Not for lack of opportunity though - I tried to get him to pee on a potted plant on the perfectly dry back porch. Nope, not good enough. It's his bladder....

*for those of you who haven't met the lovely creature called the fire ant, they dwell in mounds in Florida (and other places), and tend to swarm and inflict bites that look like mosquito bites but burn then itch. I have probably 10 or 20 bites on my legs. At least it's a good story though.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
