So things have turned around. Mom's job is ending at the end of the month and she is having the gastric bypass surgery in April. She is going to go to college, get a two-year priority for being hired if she applies for a state job, and will get a nice severance package. I have a new job that lets me work from home.

I adopted a dog on Friday. I saw her on Petfinder and it said she was going to be put down on Monday. I fell in love with her- she looked like a smart, laid-back dog (true so far). Mom saw her picture and fell in love with her as well. Mom and I drove out to the shelter and picked her up. The listing said she is a collie mix, but I think she is a bloodhound mixed with a golden retriever.

They said her owner brought her in because she kept escaping the fence and she had been at the shelter for 53 days- and that they just put that she was going to be put down to get someone to adopt her. I don't agree with it, but it worked. The listing also said she doesn't get along with kids. She kept following my little cousin around, begging for pets and rubbings on Saturday and today. She is a little shy, but loves attention. I have my work cut out for me with training her.

I've been keeping her away from my other pets until I can get her to see the vet. I don't think she has been spayed- the shelter worker didn't know and I can't find any scars. She is very thin- her teats are huge and saggy while her tummy is hard. Hopefully the vet can tell me if she is going to have puppies or if it is because she is underweight. The shelter worker didn't know how old she is either.

Mom said something about seeing if she could be a therapy dog. I've been calling her Mokey, my cousin insists on Lacy, and Mom said she should be called Casey.

Compromise, and name the dog Mokey Lacy Casey.

      What IPF said.

Do you know what kind of dog that is? She looks like my Charli. Same face. And all she likes to do is dig under the fence and escape. Lol. They might be related.

Shes a cutie. Hope the checkup goes well.

The man at the shelter said she was a collie mix. I think she is a mix of bloodhound, golden retriever, and poodle.
She is very smart. She heels, jumps up, comes, gets down, and backs up on command. I'm working on the rest of the basics and she is doing well.

We're calling her Casey. The earliest appointment the vet had was for 3:30 on Friday.
Casey won't eat dry dog food unless it has been soaked in water and mixed with a can of dog food. I'm feeding her canned and dry puppy chow. She wouldn't eat dry soaked in water the other night, but ate it when I mixed in some canned.
It is giving her diarrhea though. The shelter worker said they fed them what they had on hand. I'm making sure she is drinking water.
