the pic is too cute.
Also, if people want me to I'm more than happy to post up pictures of the cat playground my dad built for them. (two chest of drawers lying around the house, plus a $20 scratching post from the local discount store and some old carpet)

Sully can't decide if he loves or hates her. Also, I get a death glare that murders my camera. (video)

I'm still wondering where the "Crazy" comes into play. Yea an entire wall dedicated to cat trees may be a bit excessive, but I'd do it to, and I don't consider myself crazy.
Two cats does not a crazy cat person make. 12, maybe, but not two.

Our two furry ratbags are the same. In the case of the eldest one, he actually chewed one of the cardboard filing boxes we have. She'd left it out for him so he jumped in and this is what happened:Quoth Whiskey View Post
125$ cat tree < a box, naturally.

*dig teeth in* *pull piece off* *realise it doesn't taste good* *spit it on the floor *repeat*
He did that until the only pieces left of the box were the corners.
My dad made a "cat playground" for our two. It consists of a scratching post set that dad bought ages ago (one of them has a perch area), a little "hideaway" for them (made out of some old drawers) and a ramp for them to scratch around on.Quoth Cat View PostThe more $$ you spend on kittehs, the less they like the item. Boxes are free and make kittehs happy
Though I do want to get my furry jerks a cat tree....right now they just have a small post they sit on.
They both love it.

Quoth Becks View PostI like the cat tree that Lizziebeff and Mommy got for my brats, but that one...holy biscuit!!!! The cats wouldn't know what to do with themselves!!!!!!
I'm giving them an entire wall I'm filling with cat trees, condos, etc. Neglected and abused those two

The only advice I can give you is for after the fact. Everyone else has dealt with the whole "similar temperaments" thing. when you do bring kitty #2 home, don't rush into introductions. I'd recommend planning a quarantine room for the second kitten, he/she gets to live there for one week, no face to face meetings. This not only will get them used to each-other ((through the doors)) but if the other cat had caught anything from the shelter your piggy won't run the risk of catching it. After that first week ((provided new kitten has no signs of the ICK)) swap the cats out for 3-4 days, let new kitten have run of the place and piggy kitten gets to be in the room for a few days and get used to the smell.
Then you can let them meet face to face and see how it goes.
It sounds like a lot of hassle... but cats are weird and you usually only get one chance, that first meeting is what sticks with them. the only time I'd recommend not doing that is if you really feel like they are doing well and progressing faster than the time frame. ((I've had cats take 3 months to get accustomed to each-other, where others have done so in like 3 days....soooooo yeah...))
Edit so I'm an idiot and posted before I read through all three pages and realized you had already brought Nermal home. She is supper cute ^_^ and the name is perfect. Congrats on your new fluff!Last edited by Red_Dazes; 07-03-2010, 04:06 AM.

I rub catnip into the trees whenever I introduce a new one.
You have a lovely little tortoiseshell there. They'll work it out eventually.

Welll, the battle of Nermal "Why don't you love me yet" vs Sully "Why are you still here?" continues.
She loves him, he ignores her. So I figured I'd buy them a peace offering. A cat tree.

I bought that, got a discount (10%) and it got here yesterday. Me and a friend are building it today so they have something to investigate/fight over while I'm at work. However.. they seem to enjoy the closed, taped off box so much.. I don't know if they'll enjoy the tree as much.
