Well, it depends on if I can observe it...it's probably both alive and dead right now...

Just so you know, my next cat is being named Schrödinger, so that's dead out
...maybe Krolm? Or...Sprocket? Supakitty? Hmm...Katze?
Yeah, I sit here and think of names for things, my mum's cat Spiggit has at least seventeen different two-syllable S names...sparkles, spooky, sprocket, spackle, etc.

My grandparents' dog used to nose around at the rabbit all the time, wanting to play. The rabbit didn't want to (normally), and if he was on someone's lap would eventually move after being bathed to the dripping point. (The rabbit thinks he's alpha if anyone grooms him). The rabbit, however, once decided to hop on the dog's back. This might have worked ok if the dog hadn't been startled, but when the nice furry thing moved (to see what was on his back) the rabbit spooked and never tried again. Hopefully the kitten and the dog get along better than that. (And the dog continues to think that she wants to play).Quoth Pedersen View PostAfter that little bit of spit the first night, things have settled dramatically. Our youngest dog won't leave him alone, and insists on having her nose no more than 6 inches from him. The kitten has used her nose as a toy a few times. I think the claws have been out a bit (not totally), but the reaction from her so far has been simply to keep moving her nose so it's harder to play with.

Name him Rorschach! Especially if he's a psychopath.
...wait, he's a cat. Of course he's a psychopath.

With the rest of the strays: if your neighbour and you collaborate on the cost, get them spayed/neutered, then re-release them back 'home'.
This is the most effective way of keeping a feral population in check, apparently. If you take them and euthanise them, other ferals breed and move in. But if everyone in an area with a feral/stray population gets them spayed/neutered, only those on the fringes of that area have a problem. Keep expanding the area, and eventually (ideally) the whole city's stray problem ends up being only whatever former pets escape. (And ideally, they're spayed/neutered too.)

Okay, I'm not happy with the names so far. None of them seem to fit. The closest one was "Squeak", but the SO nixed that. Then came to mind the Emperor's New Groove. "You owe me a new acorn" "Squeak squeak squeak squeaken!". So, I asked "Hey You!" if his name was Acorn. I have never seen any animal respond like that. He stopped, looked at me, ears flat back, and had the look on his face of "You're joking, right? You must be joking. No human could be so stupid. You are joking."
So, no name for him yet. Still working on it.

Yay for kitty with a home!
Mine owns seventy percent of the living room, three rugs in two bathrooms, one bedroom, a window and five feet of my room. Right now he's trying to own half of my bed as well. Aren't cats so precious?
