Oh it has been forward, and is no doubt a phishing attempt. As mentioned, yes years (and years, and years) ago I had a WoW account. It was not with that email account, however. Me not dumb enough to click linkies.

My money is on a phish. Forward that to the WOW management and FTC.

I agree with everyone else; textbook case of phishing. If Blizzard really thought you were doing something dodgy, they'd suspend your account and ask questions later.Quoth Kogarashi View PostMy bet? Phishing attempt to gain access to the target's WoW account so the phishers can then turn around and either sell it or use it to farm or whatever and sell that. But yeah, kind of weird to see it on something that isn't a bank account or related.
And it doesn't surprise me to see this on a WoW account. Online gaming is big money for gold farmers. What some gamers will pay for magic items or gold in the game is unbelievable.

I get these and variants all the time, and yes, it is absolutely a phishing attempt. Some of the ones I've seen were just absolutely pathetic, you could tell that the author had only the most rudimentary grasp of the English language and no clue at all about proper grammar or punctuation.

Interesting. I just forwarded an authorization email to Blizzard - someone put in my email address to sign up for Battle.Net, and it wasn't me. Even funnier is that the name of the signatory was "zhang."
Goldfarmer much?
Yes, I've changed my email password. Again. >.<

I get "warnings" from banks, Western Union and other entities that I've never had an account with...first time I've heard of this one.

I've had that email and several variations upon it. I just forward them to hacks@blizzard.com. The one thing they always get wrong in my case...the "links" go to a US site I'm EU.

Sounds like a phishing attempt to me - hover your mouse over the links (in your email) to see where they really go.

Oh I get one of those at least once a week...the only problem is that they're sending it to the wrong email account.
