So, due to the recent issues I have with my body and other things, I've been on the hunt for a hobby that does not involve food or me wearing workout gear*. And I think I stumbled onto it.
I've been doing a lot of art/craft work lately, including drawing and some painting, although the painting has been abandoned somewhat because of the ginormous cleanup that goes with it.
Whereas with drawing, I can just pull out my pencils and go for it (and the only cleanup is eraser shavings
). Most of my drawings at this stage have been practice drawings of various Pokemon in different poses (at this stage I've done Togepi, Jigglypuff, Poliwag and Azurill, and I've been using other Pokemon to practice "features" such as focusing on ears, tails and eyes).
And I'm discovering something.
I actually enjoy it. It's something I can do almost anytime, anywhere, without too many questions. I even made a mini sketch kit with a couple of pencils, an eraser, a sharpener and some mini sketch pads in a pencil case.
So my question is....to those other artists out there, what would be a good track? Should I find a class? Should I experiment with different mediums until I find one I like? What should I look for with a class? What should I EXPECT with a class?
If I were to practice with different mediums, can anyone share their experience? Bear in mind I'm doing this strictly as a hobby, not as a business or anything.
