This actually happened last year but I was just reminded of it.
I had a girl commission me for a tail and ear set. The tail was easy enough, but she wanted something really weird for the ears and the first time around I totally screwed them up.
She had ordered in late September, wanting these for Halloween. Being the busy person that I am I hadn't even started them until the first week of October, so the screw up happened nearly two weeks into the month. So I sent her an e-mail explaining that I had screwed up big time, and that I would be mailing her tail to her, along with a pair of simplified ears so she'd at least have something to wear, but the actual ears wouldn't be done until after Halloween.
I got back the most vitriolic e-mail I think I have ever gotten from a customer. How could it be possible that with 14 whole days to work on them, I wouldn't have them done? They're just ears! I must be a bum! There must be something wrong with me! I must be trying to cheat her!
My reply to her was pretty simple. "Actually, during those 14 days I will be making nearly a dozen various items for various other customers, who otherwise would have nothing at all for Halloween, while you at least have something even if it's not perfect. You are not my only customer."
She sent me back a rather fulsome apology. She was sorry for being so rude, she hadn't realized that I had other customers.
And that's what makes this a brain burp and not a suck.
She wasn't an EW who thought her stuff should come before anybody else's, she just genuinely hadn't realized that a costume maker would have other customers during October.
