Our hotel has the typical key-cards. They code what room they are for entrance & how long they should allow the person into the room. They are re-usable, and I think most hotels's are.
Sometimes I think people stay here who have NEVER stayed in hotels that use key cards let alone anything else hotel/motel like.
SCs: Hi we tried to get into a door over there (I love how they don't specify) but we couldn't get in with our key. Why is that?
Me: Well, the key is prolly not programed anymore.
SC: Why not??
Me: (We are taught to give guests the benefit of the doubt, which is dangerous)Well, they are cheaply made so they can be cheaply destroyed or lost. They are easily erased by credit cards, cell phones, going through gun detectors...(I look up, they neither believe me or understand I can tell.) What room is it? (Program keys, let them go on their merry way.)
SC: Well, we didn't get our wake-up call either!
Me: oh...hmmm (look back into our log book, we keep a list of wakeup call requests to which I find none for their room.) There isn't one written down...so hmmm
SC: Well, we told them here at the desk & said it would be done.
Me: I am sure sorry. Since it's not written down clearly it's our mistake & not the computers. I sure do apologize.
SC: That's fine but we were late.
Me: I am sure sorry....
SC: Well, we need one for tomorrow. 7 AM
Me: Okay, 7am, you are set.
I look at the room. They have the cheapest rate we rarely offer next to employee rates, and of course they are bitching....
Tell me, is it sooo difficult to understand how key-cards work? They are made kinda cheaply so that if they are destroyed we don't have to charge guests or be out tons of money. Is that difficult to understand & I am just not seeing it?
Oh and these guests, extended their stay this morning & did not have the key extended...I looked. No surprise there, dumbasses
