Background: We can start our newspaper routes as early as 3am. Deadline to have the papers delivered is 6am. It takes me about an hour to do my two routes.
For our paper routes, we are supposed to wait until after the route to change our clocks. This is so people don't show up an hour early at the dropsite before the newspapers get there. Fortunately, my cell phone alarm will automatically go off before it automatically switches to/from DST (alarm is set to 2:30am), so it's never a problem for me. Usually.
Except last night, I went to see a movie. ("The Adjustment Bureau". Do yourself a favor and save your money. Not worth it. imho.) Because I'm so considerate, I turned the volume on my phone completely off. Because I'm a flake, I forgot to turn it back on.
I awoke this morning to the strong sense that something was wrong. I checked the time on my cell phone. 5 am.
I got up and was frantically getting dressed and waking up Hubs (he helps me on Sundays).
Me: OMG OMG OMG OMG WE ARE SO LATE!!! HURRY HURRY!
Hubs: Mrgh... *sits up* ....what time does your clock say?
Me: FIVE! WE HAVE LESS THAN AN HOUR! LET'S GO!!!
Hubs: It's 4.
Me: Huh?
Hubs: Daylight savings. It's 4. You don't have to change your clock until after the route.
Me: ......well, we're still late, but that's much better.
I was so happy to see "4am" in my car clock. I decided to leave it until after the route so I wouldn't feel quite so bad whenever I checked the time.
After I got back from running a paper to an apartment, though...
Hubs: I went ahead and changed the car clock so we won't forget later.
Me: *reads time*
