Well... today a customer handed me what I swear were 2 coupons. One of them a $10 off $40 purchase, another a $1 off coupon for an item. I set them to the side, then at the end of the transaction, I add them.
2 transactions later, I notice 3 buy 1 get 1 free coupons for items she had purchased next to my code book (she had 6 of them). And nobody else purchased those items from me all day.
I SWEAR she didn't hand them to me, I remember her handing me 2 coupons. There's a small chance she did hand them to me and I forgot them. I'm convinced she just sat them next to my code book when I wasn't looking and I never noticed them.
Still an oops. She was my 2nd customer of the day and I had literally rolled out of bed less than 30 minutes before I rang her order (I live under 10 min from work, it takes me 3 or 4 minutes to count my drawer before I sign it out, and a couple of minutes to get to a register).
Just to be safe, I set them aside in case she came back so I could give her a refund. She never did.
