  • I charbroiled myself for nothing

So yesterday, after I had finished setting the one-day sale ad, I was pulled off the salesfloor to go outside and help lawn and garden. Great--I get to stand around with a hose in my hand, wetting my pants and telling customers "I don't know a hydrangea from a hemmorhoid, please ask the specialist over there for help."

Actually, I got a pretty good job for once; driving the forklift moving racks and pallets of soil and clay pots. Turned out that corporate had added a bunch of deliveries for lawn and garden because the weather was going to be nice, and we had to push the border of the lawn and garden compound outward to make room for a bunch of new fruit trees and shrubs. In lawn and garden, we're always moving stuff around, to make the compund look full and get rid of big empty spaces.

So I spent my day tooling around on the forklift, re-arranging trees and shrubs, and laying out pallets for the deliveries we were supposed to get that day.

And then--the trucks never showed up. They didn't show up today either. We added payroll out there for nothing. And when the trucks finally do show up tomorrow, there won't be anybody around to unload them.

But hey, increasing your risk for skin cancer for no good reason is always fun. I just hope I don't start peeling on my face and neck. ICK!
