  • Insanity leads to goodness

    Short backstory, first.

I work at a very small company that publishes local papers. There are maybe 25 people, total.
There are four, including me, who can do layout.

Now, what does all this matter?

On Christmas eve, Production Manager and Other Layout Girl (2 of the 4 layout-ish people) quit.
Ok, fine. That leaves me and Ad Lady to put together 7 papers in 4 days. No problem.
Tuesday, Christmas. One of the six or so days we get off in a year.
    Wednesday, Ad Lady quits.

For those keeping track, I now have 7 papers to do in 3 days. By myself. Because no one else knows how.

Well, we got through that, went crazy for a week, stayed extra hours last Friday, the whole nine yards.

Today makes up for it, in my books. Boss calls me in to talk (ooh scary, but he sure isn't gonna fire me right now!) and basically thanks me for keeping good spirits and not whining (or quitting). Then tells me they hired me an assistant (yay! even though I have to figure out how to train him) and better yet, are giving me a $50/week raise.

    I can deal with that.
