I had an "interview" the other day with a family friend in Waltham (his main job is for the NTSC here, he has a side computer repair shop with a few corporate clients). It's a tiny shop, sells a few parts but his main focus is service (of which I believe he is the only guy in town).
To start, $10/hour (5 hours a day, 2 days a week) to basically hang out and watch the store so his assistant (sweet Vietnamese woman who doesn't speak much English, but knows her way around a computer) can do some builds. When I'm not answering the phone or tidying up the small for-sale section I'm free to go online, study, etc. Once I "prove myself" with minor repairs there will be a raise. I'm cool with that progression; everyone has to start someplace and he knows me, but not how much computer knowledge I really have (I've also never done repairs in a "production" environment). I also might be tasked to clean up the store website--right now it's "what not to do with a web page".
He also knows folks in his client corporations, so said eventually if I want he'd put in a good word if he sees they're hiring.
