I ran into the same sort of thing when I went to see Man of Steel last weekend. My niece complained later that the girlfriend of a guy near her was texting through the whole movie; clearly only there because he was there.

I told her she should have told the other girl to turn off her cellphone, and that she'd get a manager if she refused. There is no excuse for that.

<EW>Hey, she PAYED for that ticket, she has a RIGHT to use HER PHONE while watching the movie that SHE PAYED for. Seems like YOU'RE the one with the problem, why don't YOU not go to the movies if you have such a PROBLEM with OTHER PEOPLE!</EW>

Yea, I don't get it either. Guess she thinks the world revolves around her.

better yet if they're so eager to play with a phone, why don't they just skip the movie entirely. i mean why pay ticket prices for... something they're not actually watching?

    Phones in the Theater

Lately, it seems to be an epidemic! Rude little jerks with cell phones out during the movie. Our group doesn't care about people texting during the previews, or the little advertisements they run ahead of the previews, but once the movie starts, put the damn phones away!

We were seeing Man of Steel this weekend, and an Entitlement Whore comes into the very first section of rows, kicks off her shoes, props her disgustingly filthy feet up and begins to scroll through her phone. Now, there are about five on-screen reminders to silence and turn off phones.

But, no, she's an EW! It doesn't mean HER, just everyone else... And typical of the breed, she keeps her phone on the whole first half of the movie. But, she doesn't want to miss the movie, so she holds it way up high, so she can scroll through her oh-so-important texts and still watch the movie. While blinding and distracting all those in the rows behind her.

I got seriously sick of it and during one lull, used my Instructor Voice, "Turn OFF the PHONE!" She fumbled about for a bit, her companion hissed something into her ear and she finally turned it off for the rest of the movie. If she hadn't, it was going to be time to get the Manager. It's been several times now, with similar jerks, at this theater.

Here's what I don't understand... If they're so eager to play with the phone, then put it in their stupid lap. Then at least it's only ruining the movie for themselves, not for everyone else who ponied up good money to see a movie. Grrrr.
Working...
