Why can they not make registers that allow you to specify tax exemptness at any time during the transaction?

Don't forget about the ones who tell you AFTER you ring up all 200 items "Oh this is tax exempt"....grrr, then they get all snippy because you have to start over again.Quoth bainsidhe View PostFour hour wait times? Yipes.
I've never worked at a membership-type store, but I've worked retail where our nemesis was the tax-exempt forms that would exempt non-profits and businesses from paying sales tax. We'd occasionally get a customer who "of course" was tax exempt, yet was lacking any official government-type document proving such. I don't care that yours is a wholesome and well-meaning nonprofit. Or that you're a local businessperson just trying to make a living. Follow the rules and we will gladly work with you. Don't follow the rules and you pay tax. Period. *sigh*

fun at costco
my state is finally getting a costco that opens on thursday. this is somewhat of a big deal as there are only 5 other costcos in australia, and none within 500 miles.
i went over on sunday afternoon to organise my business membership as theres no way in hell i'm going over on thursday - i heard talk of other stores here having a 4 hour wait for memberships.
as i still have a business number (a unique number assigned to each business) from when i ran the classical music shop i got a business membership - $5 cheaper and it allows you to make 2 transactions at the checkout - one for the business and one for personal.
i got there and was in the process of signing up with the clerk when all of sudden i hear this "WHADDA MEAN YA CAN'T TAKE THAT? THATS MY BUSINESS CARD!"
this jackass had tried to sign up for a business membership using only a business card, no certificate of registration or anything.
he ended up getting escorted out of the building by security.
i really feel sorry for the workers come thursdayTags: None
