Except Mysty said she researched it and didn't *find* any off-label uses. Doc was just a tw*t.

"What will she use it for" is a valid question. Sometimes a medication is prescribed for something called "off label use," meaning it hasn't been tested or approved for somethng, but doctors have found it useful for a different condition.
Example: One might take prozac for depression. It causes loss of libido in 40% of the patients sho take it. One can take a tiny dose of Welbutrin in addition to the prozac to counteract the side effects..

I respect and admire that.

Here's an exchange I had with a nurse at my doctor's office once. It's just about the dumbest exchange I think I've ever had with anyone.
Me: Hi, I need to know if I'm having an ultrasound today.
Dumbass: I dont' know, are you scheduled for one?
I let some silence fall after that, and then just said "Isn't that what I just asked you?"
I guess all the rocket scientists all got hired up over at NASA, so the only thing left for the medical field is blithering morons.

Maybe I'm the dumb one here, I don't know, but I just had the following exchange with a doctor over the phone. I was calling to check on samples that were supposed to be in for my mother of a well-known SLEEP MEDICINE. I looked it up, and this medicine does nothing but make you go to sleep. That's it.
So, I call the lady (B for BITCH) and ask her about the samples. She cops a 'tude right off the bat, but I stay civil because this is my mom's business, not mine. I ask her if the samples for my mom, *Jane Doe* have come in. She declares she's never heard of that name. I tell her my mother has been phone tagging for the last two days with "A" and that might be who I need to talk to. B growls that A is a nurse and she can ask her about it. I (still staying civil) offer to give her my mother's number to call and leave her a message when they find out the status of whether the samples-of SLEEP MEDICINE-are in or not.
B, still growly, blurts out "Well, what does she need them for??"
...I just calmly told her to please speak with A and get a message to my mother, as I was just trying to find out what the deal was, then hung up and spent a couple minutes wondering if maybe, just maybe, it might be possible that someone would get samples of SLEEP MEDICINE, maybe, for like...I dunno...SLEEPING? I'm not aware of anyone who gets SLEEP MEDICINE to cure their arthritis or prevent cancer, and I'm pretty sure if I wanted them for any nefarious purposes, I wouldn't TELL the doctor that, but hey, like I said, maybe I'm the idiot...Tags: None
