It seems that the Field House patrons were waiting for the last few weeks of the semester to go off their rockers. This past Monday, the university police had to be called in order to remove an unruly guy.
The Story: About forty minutes into work, a guy comes up and asks if he could use one of the activity rooms. The FS K told him that he could not use it. Recreation Services has a rule that the rooms are for organization reservations only not for a patrons personal use. K told him this quite nicely. Upon hearing this the guy became very indignant. here's the conversation:
K- cool student manager
PG- guy turned psychopath
PG- Hey, can you open up that activity room so I can use it. (note: not a question)
K -I'm sorry we can't do that.
PG- Why not? (beginning of indignantness)
K- There is a group coming in soon who uses that room.
PG- Just open it. I'll leave when they get here.
K- Um, no. There is also a rule stating that the room needs to be reserved prior to its use and the group coming in has it reserved.
PG- You mean if I walk over to the Rec Center they would have a written rule saying that i need to reserve the activity room first.
K- Yes.
PG scoffs and walks away. K and I look at each other, as I overheard everything, and shook our heads.
I thought things were over but then that would be simple. A couple minutes after the first incident, K went to go unlock the activity room for the martial arts group going to use it. When he passed PG, K told me that PG started cursing at him. When K politely told him to stop or leave, PG responded with threats and having an attack style of body language.
Police were quickly called and arrived in less than a minute. As the two officers were talking to the guy getting his story, a third walks in and goes off towards the first two. I'm not sure what PG said to the cops, but they left with him in handcuffs. They took him off to jail, and one of the officers returned to get K's statement. The officer told us that PG would be in jail for awhile and unofficially that he would get a psych evaluation due tyo his behavior towards K and the police.
