There used to be a pizza place down the block from my dads store (worked there for about 6 years after school/ran it for a few summers).
and i'd always go down to grab a couple of slices for lunch (2 BIG slices and a pop were like.. $2.50 or $3. a really good deal).
Or if we (my dad, me, other employee(s)) were staying late, we'd usually order a pizza or 2 cuz they were a block away and had pretty good pizza.
Anyways so one night i order a pizza for pick up i wander down and there's a guy in the store freaking out on the owner (who by this point I had got to know pretty well because he saw me 5 days a week at least lol). because he'd ordered for delivery something like 45 minutes ago and hadn't got anything yet.
Anyways, the owner was explaining that the delivery car had broken down on the way to deliver the pizzas (this was a very small mom and pop family owned store im pretty sure that the 'pizza delivery car' was the owners personal car).
anyways so he gave the guy his order for free to make up for not getting the pizzas delivered to him. and the guy left still pissed and ranting about shitty service etc.
so the owner then asks me if i want free pop or something to make up for my wait (all of about 10 minutes while SC was ranting). I told him no it's not his fault that a car broke down shit happens.
I mean with the SC. ok yes i understand it sucks if they say 'yea it'll be about 30 minutes' and it takes longer. but... do what the rest of us do. CALL the pizza place and just ask 'how's my order coming?' i've done that a few times when it's been an hour or more (usually places are just really busy).
and don't flip out on the poor workers for something beyond their control.
Kudos to the pizza guy for being so nice to me and apologizing to ME for my wait. I didn't have an issue.
Sadly, the place closed down about 2 years ago. (small town about 20,000 people and we have... 6 or 7 pizza places. so the little shop just couldn't compete).
