... Also, anyone who tried to make me change a nappy would be EATING that nappy.
One high-fiber, all organic giant burrito, going down.

I've been in a Boots with a raging near migraine before, picking up medicine (cuz of course, it came on while I was shopping on the one day I didn't have it with me!) to fend it off til I could get home.

Regarding babies; I like them, but couldn't eat a whole one. Seriously, I don't want anything to do with babies. Also, anyone who tried to make me change a nappy would be WEARING that nappy.

I can fully understand not wanting to be near a kid. and kinda boggle that some woman actually thought it was a good idea to shove her baby at ANYONE who doesn't seem interested... not to mention someone in the first aid department who's picking out medication.

cos yeah... i'd have backed away too. last time i was sick it was pretty bad. normally stomach bugs don't hit me hard but this one knocked me on my ass.

"No thanks, ma'am, I had baby for lunch."

Yep. There are idiots who tried for a photo-op of Yogi holding their sprog.

    *mod hat on*

Question: If you have the flu, shouldn't you be home?

Answer (several times): Not everyone has someone to go get them stuff and the OP needed meds.

Can we please drop this and move on? It's not up to us to judge the OP for going to the store sick, and it's also unnecessary to answer it repeatedly.

    Thanks!

    /mod hat off

Now, as to babies - I love them! But even if healthy, I'd personally be all if someone was shoving one at me without me expressing interest first.

Easy to say when you don't live alone or have people who can pick up medicine for you. Did you want her to go on lockdown at home without medicine? Get over yourself.
Anyway, a lot of people get sick at work and they obviously can't stay there. They have to get home and they might as well pick up something on their way to make the staying at home bearable.

We had a lot of flu around Christmas and I have lost count of how many teeth-chattering and coughing people I have brought to their homes the last couple of weeks, 'cause they will call a taxi to get home . I'm careful with disinfecting and airing the car out after each of those rides so I haven't caught the flu yet.

    I'm an uncle.

I've never changed a diaper in my life. You know why?

    Because I'm an UNCLE.

Darlin' in my family that excuse would last you oh, .3 seconds. Then my mama would have you changing a diaper before you could run. In my family, don't matter if you are male or female, you change diapers if you happen to be nearest.

If you have the flu then shouldn't you be at home recovering & taking it easy? Being out in public makes it likely that you'll infect others.

Ditto, some of us don't have a choice, we're the only folks who can go get stuff for us, and by the time you get sick enough to develop symptoms, you've probably already passed it on to someone anyway.

She said it came on while she was at work and it looks like she needed some over the counter stuff. She really had no choice if she didn't have anyone who could pick something up for her.
Some of us don't have anybody that can go out and get stuff for us. I live alone and I've got a raging throat infection that came on yesterday. While I already had a z-pak at home, I had no throat drops, soup, yogurt, or popsicles. Was I supposed to sit at home and suffer?

I would have backed away because I really don't have any desire to have a baby shoved in my face. I'm one of those weird people who, when someone brings a baby in to work, does NOT rush over and coo at it.

Hope you get over the flu quickly and are feeling better soon!
You and me both. Maybe it's from being the oldest of a large family, or being the neighbourhood babysitter for years, but I have less than no interest in being insincerely enthusiastic about your offspring, no matter how cute everyone else tells you they are. I don't want to hold it, touch it, witter over it or even LOOK at it. And it's not that I hate kids, because I don't. I'm just not interested. Rather go get my eyebrows waxed, thanks. Bring your puppy in to work and it's an entirely different story, of course, because puppies make me melt into an irrational puddle of glee.

And besides, babies are host to all kinds of weird smells that I don't ever want to have violate my olfactory senses again, TYVM.
