Some pathetic, sad people like this guy just don't seem to be happy unless they make someone else miserable; preferably, someone whom he feels cannot fight back -- sometimes, it's a mental attack, sometimes, it's a physical one, as in this case x.x the worst part is, had your dog retaliated in kind, this lovely person probably would have called the cops on YOU for the totally unprovoked and unexpected dog attack

Might I suggest that, in addition to what has been suggested above, that you report this guy to your employer and stop bringing him catalogs if you can? If you still need to go to his area, maybe just ask your hubby to go there. Perhaps this guy will be reluctant to go after him.

Yeah I wasn't sure if OP was in the US or not - fair go on that one.

But regarding the attempt to kick the dog? Yeah, I would be talking to the cops about that, explaining that the guy was behaving threateningly toward you. Maybe they'd give him a talking to about appropriate behavior... or keep an eye out for you while you're on your route? I don't know.

honestly, if he's that aggressive i'd consider looking into what your local laws are for self defense - and ask your local authorities for what your options are if your dog is the one being attacked. (Pepper spray comes to mind since it's an option here, but always follow your local laws in something like that)

Chances are he targeted your dog because (beyond just being an asshole) it's a way to intimidate yo and suggest that you could be next - especially since you're vulnerable from the pregnancy. Plus, he could be trying to set up a situation where the dog tries to defend itself by biting - so that he could claim "dog attack".

at any rate you have EVERY RIGHT to be able to walk to do your job without being subjected to a physical attack (be it on you or on your dog)

and yes, can't hurt to try reporting this to the police too since... it really CAN be considered an attack on you as well.

was gonna ask about calling the police. Chances are with his attitude that if he had been successful, he would have turned on you next.

Can't you call the cops or animal welfare on the guy? I guess with no proof it wouldn't go far, but jeez... if someone took a shot at my dog I'd damn near tear their face off.

I don't believe tilly101 resides in the States, so US mail laws do not apply.

However, trying to kick the dog is probably assault or at least animal cruelty (check local laws). You should have called the police.

Er... not sure where exactly you are or what company you're working for, but as far as I know it's illegal to put things in mailboxes unless you are the owner or an agent of the USPS delivering mail. Even with the owner's permission. (This is why UPS, etc don't put things in your mailboxes, among other reasons.) Someone on my brother's street (WA state) got cited for putting flyers in his neighbors' mailboxes regarding a block party. Not trying to rain on your parade or anything given you need the money, but I would be careful.

    Dang sorry about the ass.

Your putting catalogs into the mailbox? O.o
Yup - unless the mailbox says no junk mail, in which case we steer clear
It's a paying job like all others, the pair is god-awful but it covers dinner for a night or two. And given our situation at preset where we need all the help we can get, we are doing every little thing we canto try and get by ATM

What the hell?! Jackass doesn't even begin to describe that horrible guy.

In fact, if that happened on my paper route, I'd probably call my manager to see about getting rid of that customer, since I sure wouldn't want to deliver there again. (My doggie rides along with me in the car, and I know other carriers with walking routes that have dogs with them as well. So far customers have reacted positively to my furry little assistant.) Dunno in your case if that's possible or even affordable.

Glad you and your doggie are okay though!

that guy is a horrible douchebag! Why - what - i don't even... I cannot comprehend the train of thoughts that led him to do that >.<
    This.
Yes there has been times I wanted to kick my dog, like when he chews through literally every power cord in the house. But then he just cocks his cute little head and its all gone.. Why anyone would want to harm one is beyond me.

started a topic Dont kick my dog!!!

    Dont kick my dog!!!

    Hi one and all
BG - as recently mentioned, my partner and I have been delivering catalogues for a couple-a bucks a week which equates to our food monies while Im off work [very difficult pregnancy, at risk of losing both twins, see top link in sig for more info!]

I had a minor op the other afternoon where they went in with a tiny camera to check things out for the smaller twin...so not a grand-scale op by any means, but they did go inside and there are still stitches...further to that, I cant take any painkillers as they could negatively affect the twins, so...all in all...it kinda hurts alot ATM.

So my partner and I are walking the streets 2 nights after the op [I will add, he did not want me out walking, I INSISTED as I dont want him having to do the entire lot by himself]. I was walking slow and taking it easy, quite clearly pregnant and in a bit of pain.
We had taken our little dog with us so it counted as her daily walk. Our dog is the apple of our eyes, we love her to bits.

The guy in this is an SC as we deliver catalogues to him, and have done so every time without any prob. I get to his mailbox, put in his catalogue....he comes out the front door...

SC, yelling after me - 'Youre not gonna get too far going that slow!'

Me, turning around to clearly show Im pregnant - 'Going as fast as I can '

SC - 'You're just being lazy'

I ignored him here and kept walking. After a minute or so I could 'sense' someone behind me, so I turned around....
Sure enough he had followed me up and was right there....without warning, he TOOK A SWING AT MY DOG! Tried to kick her.
She got startled and jumped back so luckily avoided being kicked.

I picked her up- which hurt like a bitch - and hurried off with her.

Dude tried to kick a poor innocent dog because he thought I was walking too slow? Um....aggressive much? PSYCHO much??
Working...
