  • self-scan idiots

The gorcery store i work at has the conveyor belt type self-scans. Their is the scanner/scale ant a scale under the first belt. Some items, such as flowers, coffee fro the bakery don't get run on the belt. If you scan, say a can of tuna, you put it on the first belt it checks the weight then passes it to a bagging area. Once in the bagging are it can be removed since it has been checked to make sure it is what you are scanning. When you walk up it asks you to scan your card and makes sure the scale is empty. Too many idiots will press their card on the scale and it put us a big message in screen and says "pleas remove items from the scanner scale." Idior removes card and keys from scale, tries again, repeat about five times before they figure it out or tell us the self scan is broken. The other idiots leave their purse on the scale while trying to scan groceries. The is extra weight that shouldn't be their and it locks it up. The the cashier will come over and tell idiot to take purse off and place it on the handy shelf rignt next to them. They scan one item, replace purse in scale, repeat. The only time i have ever had to have cashier help me was when I accidentally put in the wrong PLU fro some produce and ended up getting charged $127.99 for a few cherry tomatoes. Some people shouldn't be allowed to use them.
