I'm looking for a Wii for my roommates and I. Recently made an attempt at a Meijer's this morning but some people were lined up at 9 PM the night before and were willing to wait till 6 AM to get it. Holy crap I want a Wii as much as the next guy but this is ridiculous.

I did hear that Canada has a few of them in some areas, I might have to scour most of southeastern Ontario to get my hands on it and I'm in Canada a lot anyways so um, yeah.

Want a Wii? I HAVE YOUR WII RIGHT HERE!

    ...I like my 360 better...
Same here! It has MASS EFFECT! And I'm hopelessly addicted to BioWare's latest & greatest!

That's what they said LAST year.
LOL! That's exactly what I was about to post!

And it's true! All year long Wiis have been selling out immediately after arriving in-store, at EVERY store here in Maryland! One of my best friends managed to get one through sheer luck and good timing. He called a Gamestop that's about 5 minutes from his house right after their truck came in. They told him they had just got some in stock, but that they wouldn't hold it. He headed out to the store IMMEDIATELY and picked up the LAST ONE THEY HAD IN. As he was paying for it, at least 2 more people came in looking for it who had also just called the store right before he got there, only to be disappointed because he'd beat them to it!
    I want a Wii.

I'm just to lazy to actually put any effort in to buying one. If it's not on the shelf or if it requires me to line up before the store opens, I'm just not going to get it. Never mind I really can't afford a Wii, I WANT ONE, dang it! We'll get one, eventually. One day. Probably not until next year though, but we'll get one.

(We'd probably have one already, had they not put Twilight Princess out on Game Cube. )
Honestly, I DON'T want one. The ONLY games on it I'd even buy would be the new Zelda (which I'll buy on Gamecube, because I do NOT feel like having to physically swing around a "sword" to play the game... stupid motion-sensing BS! ) and the newest installment of Metroid Prime. I'm NOT going to buy a Wii just to play 2 games! I LOVE the Metroid series, I've bought every game in the series (except Metroid Pinball, I'm not much of a pinball fan,) but I WON'T buy a system just for one game! So, no Wii for me until there's more games I actually want to play! And would it kill them to make it BLACK while they're at it? Screw this "White is the new black" BS! BLACK is the new black, mmmkay?

I bought a wii this past summer and there were dozens all over the place:-)
You clearly live in the middle of nowhere, in a town where no one plays these "new-fangled video game thingamajigs", because that's the only POSSIBLE WAY you could've found so many in-stock!

You know what I am so glad I got in line at 9:30 pm back on launch day. It was freaking 18 degrees that night and got as low as 7 degrees, we were not even give our vouchers until 7 am. We stayed all night and never once bitched. Guess how many Wiis I have seen sitting on shelves over the last year? 0, not a dang one!
So yeah I think of it kinda as a badge of honor really.

In the last week or so there was a BBC report saying there's an abundance of Wiis in Germany.

I'd say 97% of the calls I get at my store are people asking if we have Wii's in. In fact these days I just include "we have no Wii's in stock" at the end of my phone greeting. I take it as an honor when I get hung up on after that.

Same here. Even my sister was able to get one ... at midday ... a day or so after the store's truck came.

As I was working this morning, I noticed one call for electronics after another after another after another. All people asking if we had Wiis.

They got sent to the guy working back there because he had to follow the script.

    Aw-

Try having 100 of them on Sunday and having to turn away at least 50 more people on top of that. And this was 2 hours BEFORE the store opened.

    You, sir, have it easy....

I got my Wii easily enough on Black Friday -- I know people. But so far it's been nothing but trouble for me. First, I got into a huge and ongoing spat with Amazon that's been going on for days... I'm going to get to the bottom of it even if I have to go all the way to the top. Then I lost a friend over it, but we won't talk about that. Then I have to deal with a brother who expects it -- at cost -- for his grandson "who says he really doesn't want one but I figure I'll buy it for him anyway because it's so hard to get." (Not going to happen -- toys, like money, go where they're wanted and stay where they're well treated).

Now I have to deal with selling it. I'll probably wind up making money off it but after all the hassle, it really doesn't worth it anymore.

It's too bad I hate videogames... I'd just keep it for myself.

Where are you people that Wiis are plentiful? It'd probably be worth the drive just to find one. I waaaaaaants one!

Our store hasn't every been able to keep them in stock all year. The longest I've heard of them staying on the shelf was from opening until 6 PM. And from what I've experienced while covering the operator's breaks, more than half the phone calls we get in a day are for the Wii (before Thanksgiving it was more like 1 in 4 was for it).

Now, if you wanted a PS3, we have more than will fit in the locked case so there's two just sitting on the shelf...

My brother wanted a Wii for Christmas, too. And so you know what my mother did? Wait for it, Sucky Customers. And brace yourselves. This might be too logical for you. Ready? Ok.

SHE BOUGHT ONE IN MAY, WHEN WIIS WERE APLENTY, AND HID IT IN HER CLOSET. And now there's a wrapped Wii under the tree for my brother to open on Christmas morning.

But you, customers, you are the ones who choose to wait until 23 days before Christmas to get the must-have hot item and then bitch when it's sold out. Get over yourselves, sirs and/or madams.
