  • Customer Believed She Might've Been Overcharged

Yesterday, a customer called and mentioned that she bought a few of a certain item on Thursday and believed she might've been overcharged. I had to get out the ads since our weekly sales end on Thursday so I could look the item up. I wasn't able to find the item the customer was talking about. I informed her that I wasn't seeing the item in the ad and the price wouldn't be on the shelf since that particular sale ended.

I told the customer that she could bring the receipt in and get the problem worked out that way. She wouldn't accept that and wanted to know if she was right or not. She also wanted to know if the store was held responsible if an item didn't come up half the price on a buy one get one free item. I wasn't sure on that which I told her and then she decided that she wanted a manager so I put the customer on hold and paged the PIC.

Later, I asked one of the checkers who also works scan if the item the customer mentioned was on sale. It turned out that it wasn't.

On a buy one get one free item, the grocery store I work at doesn't charge half price for one. The customer gets the full price for one.
