As for the "little buttons" guy...what a condescending piece of shit! I hate him on your behalf! That was awesome that you could get even with him, few of us get that opportunity. I understand what the others were saying about being careful, even off the clock. I think I have a little thread I'd like to start in Fratching about that...

I'm sure he could've complained if he wanted to; but considering his face, his previous actions and my explaination to the manager and the managers reaction to the situation, I'll honestly say I felt pretty safe saying those things.

Ok, I'll grant you that people who grew up when being sexist was more socially acceptable might not be doing it for the express purpose of getting a rise out of you. They're generally easy to identify though.

Bingo. They're trolling, and the best way to deal with trolls is to not feed them.

Alternately, you could turn it around on them, and if a guy uses some pet name out of turn, you could always then respond by calling him Buttercup or something equally inane and generally inoffensive.

Those are The Weeping Angels from Doctor Who. They turn to stone when seen by any living creature...but then you blink, or turn your head away....and...

I think they're the most creepy Doctor Who enemies.

I don't want to be shuttled off to fratching, but just to point it out, for anyone who may not know, bathing has nothing to do with head lice - you can get them by getting too close to someone who has them (like kids leaning over something together at school) or by trying on a hat someone with them tried on recently, or even by sitting in a chair in a lobby and leaning back, if someone with them sat there recently. Washing one's hair and bathing every day will not prevent getting them (and being unhygenic will not cause them, though it could. of course, prolong the situation if not treated).

Playing devil's advocate, but if the hotel saw them on the linen or something and told you, then the family may not have known they have them. And if they told the hotel as they left, there's a good chance they didn't know til they were already checked in, and just wanted to keep from passing them on.

School children get them the easiest, even in the "best" schools. Outbreaks happen. And often, a parent doesn't realize the child has them for several days (not that easy to see, especially on a light-haired child, and not all that itchy at first ).

I know it isn't very pleasant to have to wash your hair with that shampoo (isn't cheap, either), and worry about getting them yourself. But finding out someone had headlice does not mean they're dirty or unhygenic.

As most mom's have, been there with my daughter, and she's now been there with her daughter - and believe me, we're a very clean family.

Other than that, good post, and lots of SC's to marvel at.

yeah you are less likely to get lice if you let your natural oils settle a bit around your roots, so not washing your hair everyday.

My apologies for insulting you. I had lice as a child, but I got it from a dirty neighbor kid. The cabin I cleaned also had quite a bit of trash and dirty dishes all over. Between those two things and the fact I was taught to associate lice with filth is what likely brought on the accidental insult.

It's not that I wasn't educated on the fact that anyone can get lice(hence how my family would've gotten lice from me, had I not washed my hair), it was more an angry biased ranting about the trashy people who rent the cabins.

As I'm explaining it, I'm most definitely insulting his integrity as a human being while using slightly foul language.

I look up to see him and his two daughters staring at me, jaws dropped and red-faced. I couldn't resist and told my roommate, loudly, that the man who caused so much trouble was eating at the table right across from me. We laughed as I clearly stated how there was nothing they could do because I was clocked out with no name tag on.

Hehehe that is too wonderful! I wish I had moments like that. But I will give a word of caution ((which I am sure you have heard before)) just because you are clocked out and not wearing your uniform/name tag, does not mean that a really nasty SC couldn't get you in trouble. I know at Dress for Less they expected us to be professional about our work even when we weren't working... if we trashed talked a customer out side of work and management somehow got wind of it we could be fired.
