Once I was calmly eating my chips while the maniac was screaming his head off at me for daring to charge him for his soda when it should be free.

Naturally when I was calling the cops, he was screaming that I was a thief, and then he threw the soda he wanted so badily at me, before storming out.

Cops said not to call them unless he attacked.

Hehehe I've always done that to people. Nothing torques them off more...than if you're polite to them. The ruder they get, the nicer you get. My feeling is, if some asshole wants to give themselves a heart attack over a box of cereal/not having 'net service/parking space/etc. then I'm only too happy to oblige

I think the ONE BIG THING that, these days, people do NO realize is that making bodily threats ior ANY threats against a utility company is considered a terrorist threat (something to do with the PATRIOT act I think) or act

the last time I went to to the local office to pay my power bill, they had a big sign on the door that stated if you made ANY kind of threats it would be treated as a violation of FEDERAL law and would be considered a terrorist act or threat. which in and of itself these days carries some heafty fines and/or jail time.

Same thing happened in this state after a not-infrequent ice storm. The electrical grid around here, which was 50 years old and more or less done, was pretty much erased in its entirety.

A few weeks later, the power company gets a phone call from an irate customer who says he's going to wait outside with a gun and FORCE the power station guy to fix his power, next time he saw one of those bucket trucks go by. (Honest, the power company was doing the best they could, there was just a record amount of damage...we wound up receiving federal assistance.) Not only did he shoot himself in the foot, but he also winged all his neighbors.

It seems that the truck that would be reconnecting his neighborhood was, quite literally, on his way to that location when the call was made. The power company had no choice but to radio the employee and call him back, since some lunatic with a rifle was threatening to take him hostage if he didn't do, you know, exactly what he was already doing. The guy was taken into custody, and the neighborhood dropped down considerably on the rota. When the guy was released on bail, the story had already hit the news, and now everyone in his neighborhood knew that he was the reason they'd be without power for the next few weeks. I imagine that was his last invitation to the barbecue...

Any chance of not connecting him ever again? Let this idiot live in darkness (and filth from not being able to use a vaccuum cleaner). Let him eat cold beans out of the can (assuming he's using an electrical stove).

Tempting, but that may be a code violation of some kind...Conversely, suggesting that he get his electricity somewhere else might work. I understand they're doing impressive things with solar panels these days...

Why do people not understand that they're shooting themselves in the foot when they make threats? I have to wonder if he's ever encountered anyone stupid enough for the threats to have an effect in the direction he wanted.

Probably back in grade school. I'd bet he was a bully who could intimidate smaller students into giving him what he wanted, whether it was lunch money or doing his homework for him. All he had to do was threaten them and he got what he wanted.

Now he thinks it'll work that way in the real world. What he (and other SCs like him) do not comprehend is that the real world has this amazing thing called the legal system, in which bullies like him actually get punished for their crimes instead of getting away with their crap.

A big to Sarcastro's security and local police for giving this SC what he had coming to him! And to Sarcastro as well for keeping cool and giving him enough rope to hang himself.
