Don't you know that teachers live in their classrooms (or teachers' lounge depending on the country). They're not actually allowed to have lives of their own.
Just goes to show me for thinking that people outgrow that type of thinking before they reach adulthood.
I hate to break it to you, but there will (eventually) be a multitude of idiots, morons and dullards beating a path to your doors at the school (and that's just the parents).
My mother has regaled me with many a story of her time spent in various schools - but the benefit is that you can (dependant on the head) tell them what you think!
Boy, you got that right. A few years ago, a student flunked out of the nursing program where I teach. The student's husband called the instructor, and asked her to, "think about God and what He would want."
My colleague responded, "I'm thinking about what the patient your wife would be caring for would need and want." Needless to say, the flunking grade did not change.

I work for an answering service and I cannot even list the amount of times I have had people chew me out for not being able to connect them to someone who isn't available, or the idiots who ask the "Why not?!! BLARGLE BLARGLE BLARGLE!" question that makes me want to scream. Um, maybe because you called a lawyer's office at 6 PM on a SUNDAY, jackass? I'm not in the office, how the HELL am I supposed to know why they aren't answering their phones?! And where do you IDIOTS get off acting like you're going to have my ass if I don't have them call you in five minutes?!! You are not as important as you think you are.
So here is my first Sucky Customer (or parent) from the new job at the school!
A few details first. I now have two roles at the school. I work in the classroom with the kids during the day half the time . The other half, I work after hours in the school office. My job is to basically be there for all the after school classes and meetings that take place, for example, we have kids clubs, yoga classes, karate lessons ect ect. I help keep these organised.
I also need to point out that most of these classes start at about 6pm, long after the teachers have gone. The last teacher typically leaves between 4:30 and 5pm. Then, at 5pm, all the school phones get cut off, except for outgoing calls. All that is left is the answering service, and I am the only member of staff in the entire school until the evening classes show up. It's really strange working in an empty school, but also very relaxing. It is so nice knowing that you are not going to be ambushed by a group of 20 drunk people wanting to order food.
So I am sat at the desk, working happily away, when a lady shows up at the doors. I buzz her in.
Me: Hi there, how can I help you?
SP: I have been tryyyyyyyiiiiiiiing to call you for twenty minutes, but all I keep getting is an answering machiiiiiiiiiinne.
Me: Yes, the school phones disconnect at 5pm.
SP: Well duuuuhhh. The answering machine told me that.
Me: How can I help?
SP: I need to speak to someone regarding school lunches.
Me: Oh, well, I'll try and help you however I can...
SP: No, I need to speak to whoever is in charge of them.
Me: I am sorry, but everyone has gone home for the day. I am the only person here at the moment...
SP: What?! Why are you the only person here?
Me: I am here for the night classes.
SP: Well, where is the head? Or Mrs Teacher?
Me: They have both gone home. But I will try and help you however I can...
SP: But I neeeeeeeed to speak to someone in charge! How could they leeeeeave when I neeeeeed them!
Me: Well I think the best thing for you to do is to call back between 9 and 5 tomorrow. Or I could leave a note for you and get someone to call you in the morning.
SP: This is ridiculoussssssssss!
She reluctantly gave me her details, and stormed out. She walked into the doors, thinking they would open for her. I had to cover my mouth to hide the smile on my face as I buzzed her out.
I looked at her name. I know her child, and he whines just like her when something doesn't go his way.. Now I know where he gets it from.
