Mom tends to play the slots a lot, but she budgets so there's no problems there. Earlier this year, we were at Casino NB. We had just entered, and were still getting settled. She apparently put some money in a machine, didn't realize it was max bet, and hit the jackpot. 5000$. It made our day to say the least, and was a huge help with my move and our trip to Vegas (it's paying for our tickets)

Me I have no luck on the slots (who does?) so I'm switched to Blackjack. First time ever playing it in Vegas (was my last night there last year), and I played the night out and doubled up my original hundred. Played it again recently (at a local casino) and doubled up again. Third time I had no luck however.

When I head back to Vegas in July, I'll have a strict budget for my gaming. If I blow it on the tables, so be it. If I win, all the better. But otherwise, I won't begrudge it since I had fun with it and had the chance to socialize with my table mates while I played.

I also play Bingo occasionally, and when the Lotto Max starts getting MaxMillion prizes I'll buy a ticket for the draws, but that's about it for my Gambling fun.

I also once saw a woman turn in $257 worth of winning tickets just to spend that money on more tickets.
Nothing I haven't seen. I was doing a return for a lady who had a W2G showing $4k in winnings. She also had a log from her player's club that showed $9K in losses. I once overheard a comedian quip that the best way to beat a slot machine was with a sledge hammer.

With the Powerball at $200 million now, expect more frenzy.
For whatever reason, the machine lottery doesn't annoy me much. Except when people don't feel like using bet slips and want me to punch in their numbers. I tell them I don't know how.

Hey every once and awhile you get a good go out of it.
I remember years back I had a serious streak going. 23 out of 25 tickets were wins. Most were just "here's your money back" but I did get some $5, 10 and ever a 25 out of it. Since that streak broke I buy maybe 1 ticket a month

It's more likely that Bradley Cooper will walk into this door and take me right into the bedroom
This would certainly not hurt my feelings !!

    MMMM. Bradley Cooper.

Heh, I love my gambling. No joke, gambling got me through my last semester of college.

I decided to go to AC with two friends on a whim. Walked in with $100. Sat down at single deck blackjack and had the dealer and a pitboss explain it to me since it was only 4pm and it was really slow. I got up at 6pm with $300. Bought pizzas for my friends and I and we chilled for a couple hours. Went back out and went back and forth between blackjack, craps, and roulette. Went to bed around 1am, drunk, with $1,100. Woke up the next morning, checked out, we played blackjack for an hour and I made another $100.

End of the semester I only had $100 to my name. Wouldn't have made it through the semester without that trip.

Most of the time I break even. I have blown $200 before though. No big deal though. Can't wait to go to AC now that my paychecks are ridiculous and get $1,000 in chips. It'll be awesome.

My family and I do scratch offs for holidays and birthdays. I've been on a dry spell for the past year or so but we don't buy them often. Some people are just obsessive about it, it's scary.

Oh my God, the damn Powerball. That thing can go away anytime.

When I was either 18 or 19, sometime when I was still at the gas station, the Powerball got up to some really ridiculous amount, and you would have thought it was the Hurricane Katrina Gas Scare all over again. My store was freaking packed, but it was for fucking lottery tickets. I got behind in all my chores and stocking duties.....in one slow moment, I just raided the cigg cabinet and started taking from cartons because I couldn't stock them. I nearly pissed my pants because I coudn't go to the bathroom. Everyone wanted a fucking Powerball ticket.

Newsflash. It's more likely that Bradley Cooper will walk into this door and take me right into the bedroom than any of us winning the Powerball. K?

Try working at a grocery store, operating the Lottery machine, when the majority of your customers were retired old people with way too much money and time on their hands, and hillbillies that were apparently too lazy to work and always trying to strike it rich.

Both groups would buy scandalous amounts of tickets, and hold up the lines at the Customer Service booth for minutes at a clip. Some old folks wouldn't even be able to get out anymore, and they'd be having their grown kids, nieces, nephews, etc. come in with index cards just filled w/ dozens of numbers, meant to be played many different ways.

Myself, I like to gamble and play the lottery, but only for entertainment, as mentioned earlier in this thread.

There are very few lottery players in my good graces. One buys any new ticket and usually a few dollar tickets to give to whoever is working that night (unless sticky fingers pockets them). One accepts me giving him shit when he forgets to scratch a ticket off or I have had a long day, and gave me a game show entry ticket because he has gotten plenty of them and never has any luck. And one random guy who gave me $10 after he won $100, and kept playing..... After making an hour of pay the next 30 min of him back and forth didn't annoy the piss out of me.

Fortunately, I can't think of the last time crazy lottery lady was in who wants to know all the numbers.

I get shit from coworkers because I often by the last ticket if it 1-5$ and a i have some extra money, I go with the entertainment aspect, I really don't expect to win.

    I have to admit that I was one of those people who ran back and forth to the counter while playing scratch-off tickets. I don't play them very often, and I was having a lot of fun seeing if I could win anything. I finally stopped after I noticed the clerks getting a bit irritated whenever I'd walk in the door. ^^;

Yeah this is what's extra upsetting to me. It's one thing to annoy the clerk, but they're annoying everyone behind them too. Ugh.
You're not the only one. It annoys the hell out of me that I'm being held up...because some crack- or meth-head (there are quite a few of those in the neighborhood I work in) can't make up their damn mind about which game they're going to waste money on. Seriously? Get the fuck out of the way. I want my caffeine, dammit!

Thank you. I've followed the spirit of his rule (not always the letter), and - well, the total amount I've spent gambling in my life is far, FAR less than the amount I've spent on books!
A person after my own heart! I LOVE books!

I have a regular customer, an old man, who comes in and buys ticket after ticket. He gets them one at a time, usually the $1 or $2 scratchers. He stands off to the side and scratches, then either asks for "one more" or another number ticket, whether he wins or loses. It's sad, because his sister has told one of our coworkers that he's spent so much on tickets that he has trouble paying bills. His sister is taking care of his and their mother's finances, I guess. Oh, I also have a semi-regular female customer that will come in and ask "What number is X ticket on?" for several tickets, turn her nose up at them, and just get a few. Someone explain the number thing to me? All I know is, it's annoying as hell!!

It makes me steam when I'm trying to pay for my gas, and I can't get to the counter because some twit insists on playing and redeeming his scratch offs right there and won't move so other customers can be served.
