Right after Hurricane Katrina, I went to work on a cruise ship. Unfortunately, I was in public areas and my name tag had my hometown. One guest came up and started to ask all kinds of questions about Katrina, and being that it was still new and fresh in my mind, I was starting to tear up. (This guy was talking about the death rates, evacuations, etc.) Thankfully, another customer saw him quizzing me and asked him why he was tormenting me when obviously it was a sensitive subject. The guy said I was being oversensitive since it was 6 months before. The nice guest told him to leave me alone or she was going to give HIM something to talk about 6 months later.
I never got her name but she became a legend in my department.
